NOTE! In the US this beer is marketed as Xbeeriment #44. The reason for this is that any references to President Obama would only be permitted by US authorities if we had a written permission from the White House. So the dressing’s changed, but the beer stays the same!

Also please NOTE that the first US edition of "Xbeeriment #44" is erroneously labelled 10.4% ABV.

English: Brewed to celebrate Barack Obama’s inaugural as the 44th President of the United States, and the first black person to hold the office. A potent stout with a fair amount of peated malt in the grain bill. This adds a smoky character to the beer which obviously also has roasted aromas from the dark malts and roasted barley as well as loads of citrusy hop notes from the US hop varieties. NOTE: From 2009 - 2012 this beer was brewed at Amager Bryghus. From the summer of 2012 it will be brewed at Herslev Bryghus.

Pours a dark chocolate brown with thin frothy tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, smoked jerky and cocoa. Flavor is toasted cocoa nibs, nuts, and earthy peat and a hint of bitter citrus hops. Body is light yet creamy with mild carbonation.

Bottle from CrackedKettle. Poured black, with a beige lacing foam that was burgundy tinted on the edges. Earthy aroma with dark chocolate, cognac, hops, ash, sour cherry and nuts in the nose. Somewhat sweet start, dry, roasted bitter aftertaste. Dense body, with high carbonation.

To celebrate the most important election in the last century - sa appropiate, and thumps up for the idea. Poured in a tulip-glass. Dark brown almost black with a cffé Latte-look head. The nose is strongly dominated of rasted coffee, vanilla and chocolate. Some hops and burned malts and brown sugar and a little hint of smoke. (Cant help like feeling there is some aroma-notes of an old cheese of some kind...cant find the name...and for the record - i like cheese) The taste is bitter with notes of coffee and dark chocolate and malts. The body is creamy leaving a nce palate. The finish is long and bitter... I dont really feel that the taste backs the aroma all the way - but anyhow - its a good beer. VIVA OBAMA

Bottle. Black ofc, with a frothy off white head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is dominated by smoke and ashes. Some sourness from the smoke, which also comes off as kind of berry like. Some dark fruits, but they are pretty subtle. Also some alcohol. Flavour is massively peaty, pretty salty, and finishes very dry. As it warms some chocolate comes into it. Fairly extreme on the smoke, but I dig it. Medium bodied,

Tap @ Fermentoren. Pours deep brown/black-ish with a small beige head. Aroma if roasted malt. Taste is of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, a bit of licorice and a hint of smoke. Full bodied, sweet and low carbonation. Not super complex, but very tasty and overall very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A very dark brown beer with a small off-white head that actually leaves some lacings. The smell is fairly mild with aromas of smoked and roasted malts, burnt wood, chocolate and hints of fruits. The taste is quite sweet and balanced with flavors of mild peaty smoke, roasted malts, coffee and dark fruits. The finish is mildly bitter, dry and a short with hints of hops. It’s quite soft on the palate with a rather full body and very mild carbonation. Goes down really easy. All in all, a decent beer, very easy to drink. Cask.

Not very sweet, but quite a bit of bitterness. Yeasty, both in taste and aroma. Very dark in colour, head is brown. (50 cl bottle)

Beautiful black beer with a lasting brown head. Fine lacing. Aroma: smoked malt, but also fruity, chocolate, coffee, liquorice, hops in the background. Taste: really well balanced. More hoppy than most stouts, but it goes well with the burnt bitterness from the malt. This connection gives it a very distinct tar-like taste and being half finnish i really enjoy the taste of tar. Really good one.
