Had at the Porter on a very snowy day-perfect. Pours dark brown/black with light brown head. Strong aroma of expresso with a little cedar. Full bodied creamy chocolatey palate has more expresso and smokey flavors. Excellent.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cybercat (2453) - Georgia, USA - JAN 5, 2011
Pours a luscious opaque sable with a fairly thick light tan head that leaves some decent lacing. Rich aroma is smoky with strong tones of molasses, fine coffee and semi-sweet chocolate. Flavor fills the mouth with smoked wood, semi-sweet chocolate, molasses and quality roast coffee with hints of caramel and toffee. Texture is thick, fizzy and oily, leaving a subtle tingle and a nice mocha finish. If you like stouts, this is worth a hunt.

Aroma is roasty, chocolate malts, a subtle smokiness and a very floral hop profile. Pours jet black with a nice off-white head. Taste is upfront with an intense roasted/smoky character. Smoke plays really well with this. Finishes really hoppy...very nice surprise. This beer combines a lot of my favorite things....will purchase again.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2011 50cl bottle with the most nondescript label probably ever. Dumb tribute though.
It pours a dark brownish black with a foamy tan head. The head is rocky and sticks for a nice while before receding to some nice lacing.
The smell immediately stands out as it is one of the most fragrant stouts I have smelled. It is unique as well. It has an almost fruity tang to it with a ton of smokiness in various forms, mostly smoked peat and roasted malts but there is also a hint of campfire.
The flavor is big and bold. It isn’t super smoky, but super, super roasty. There are notes of coffee, campfire wood, a nice smoky bitterness, smoked peat, and some dark chocolate. Some citrusy hops start to come in after a few drinks, adding to the bitterness. It is surprisingly light bodied, but it isn’t light or water, just smooth and drinkable.
A fine brew.

16 + ounce bottle from The Wine and Cheese Place. A black beer that has a nice fluffy tan head that very slowly fades. I smell light cocoa with smoke and nuts in the pleasant aroma. Chocolate is the first thing tasted and it is like fudge. After that I taste earthy hops that also add fruit and a bit of bitterness. Molasses is tasted. This is sweet and nicely complex. Hops grow with warming. If you don’t like this beer then wait a while and the flavor will change. The feel is very creamy and smooth. Sweeter beers are in my wheelhouse and this definitely qualifies. Well done. It is almost Presidential!
