NOTE! In the US this beer is marketed as Xbeeriment #44. The reason for this is that any references to President Obama would only be permitted by US authorities if we had a written permission from the White House. So the dressing’s changed, but the beer stays the same!

Also please NOTE that the first US edition of "Xbeeriment #44" is erroneously labelled 10.4% ABV.

English: Brewed to celebrate Barack Obama’s inaugural as the 44th President of the United States, and the first black person to hold the office. A potent stout with a fair amount of peated malt in the grain bill. This adds a smoky character to the beer which obviously also has roasted aromas from the dark malts and roasted barley as well as loads of citrusy hop notes from the US hop varieties. NOTE: From 2009 - 2012 this beer was brewed at Amager Bryghus. From the summer of 2012 it will be brewed at Herslev Bryghus.

A black beer with a medium and light brown head. The aroma is great, roastiness, chocolate, coffee, sweetness, some smoke and marzipan. Taste has coffee, salt liquirice, some smoke medium bitterness. Almost full bodied, not sticky, low carbonation. Balanced and very enjoyable beer with the great aroma.

Botella, thanks Pinball. Pitch black colour with a steady nice light brown creamish head leaving a good lacing. Soke aroma with chocolate and roasty malt. Great mouthfeel. The flavour has lots of roasted malt with smoke, coffee, chocolate, a very pleasant bitterness and a long lasting roasty smokey dry finish. Yum!

Thanks to Kris for the sweet in-person trade. Deep dark black beer with a thick beige head. Very sticky and chewy with a lovely nose. Lots of soft chewy cocoa with a bit of black licorice as well. Toasted chocolate and a bit of dry cocoa as well. At it warms the cocoa and chocolate really picks up. Lots of big herbal/earthy hoppy flavour. Long lingering bitterness. Really solid brew.

A Mes rate. Bottle at the Weekend of Tarts.
Thanks to Bullseye for this. Opaque, very, very dark brown with a superb off white head. A proper Danish stout aroma. Big hops, slightly floral, dry, fruity and plenty of roasty darkness. Massively smoky and oaky in the flavour. Big dark chocolate bitterness. Another slew of hoppy bitterness too. Loads of oak chips, quite French in fact. Something a little thin and dull about the finish that holds it back just a little. Bloody excellent beer all the same.

Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Light brown head. Liqourice, sweetness, caramel and herbs in the aroma. Flavour of fruits, chocolate, liqourice, carael, roast, spice and herbs. Very rich flavoured and balanced. Medium to full bodied. Dry. Roasty bitterness in the end. Me definately like.

500. Thanks, Maria! Pours jet black with a dense, creamy tan head. Lots of bubbles, lots of lace, very dark coloration. Big sweet chocolate and roast nose, just delectable. Creamy medium body, light but firm carb in the background. Very rich roasty dark mid-palate, plenty of chocolate showing through but definitely not predominant in effect. Long dry roasty finish. Lovely, complex, drinkable stuff.
