COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
NOTE! In the US this beer is marketed as Xbeeriment #44. The reason for this is that any references to President Obama would only be permitted by US authorities if we had a written permission from the White House. So the dressing’s changed, but the beer stays the same!

Also please NOTE that the first US edition of "Xbeeriment #44" is erroneously labelled 10.4% ABV.

English: Brewed to celebrate Barack Obama’s inaugural as the 44th President of the United States, and the first black person to hold the office. A potent stout with a fair amount of peated malt in the grain bill. This adds a smoky character to the beer which obviously also has roasted aromas from the dark malts and roasted barley as well as loads of citrusy hop notes from the US hop varieties. NOTE: From 2009 - 2012 this beer was brewed at Amager Bryghus. From the summer of 2012 it will be brewed at Herslev Bryghus.

Bottle - Deep black body with a dark brown edge, very creamy lasting mocca head; Excellent very well put together aroma, the more you put it to your nose the more refined and deeper it gets, it has everything: the creamy soft chocolate without being the least vulgar, the roasted malty fruitiness without being neither dry or floral, the piney resin without being to sharp, extremely nice; The body is very interesting but no at the same level as the nose and maybe a little more interesting then really good, there is some thing invisible about it either it is the texture being extremely soft at the same time as being a little watery, maybe it is the fine combination of balanced sweetness and dry roastedness; It finishes very long and grows in bitterness to something that last very and quite dry, at another level you have a cream like soft sweetness almost like condensed milk, it makes again a very interesting combination, this with a very light roasted bitterness makes again a very very interesting combination. Very very interesting and very good beer!

Bottle - pours a very dark brown and only a slight head. Wonderful aromas of roasted grain, chocolate, coffee and a hint of smokey earthiness. Nice robust flavors of chocolate, light roast coffee, smoke, earth and some tobacco are layered within a slightly thin body. Opens more as it warms.

Bottle from Brewfest on ’super markdown" though they don’t tell you that the disties are dumping retired old beer. Black with tan head and lace. Smoky oxidized aroma with raisin dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Roasted chocolate coffee subdued fruit woody bitterness with hints of citrus and lingering smoke. Full body creamy. Pretty excellent despite its age. Glad I bought it.

500 ml bottle from backlog notes, the bottle was labeled #44 Smoked Stout. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small khaki head. The aroma had lightly smoked malts, chocolate, peat, dark fruits, with an earthy character. The flavor is much of the same; light smoke, chocolate, dark fruits, plum, earthy and some roast. Medium bodied and only light smoke.

(Bottle) Pitch black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with sweet espresso, liquorice, a touch of smoke and soy sauce. Malty, roasted taste with notes of strong black coffee, chocolate truffles, cacao, liquorice, hints of soy sauce, a touch of peat and a generous roasty bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. The smoke character is quite subtle, so it stays fairly well balanced, but still powerful. Very nice.

A black beer with a medium and light brown head. The aroma is great, roastiness, chocolate, coffee, sweetness, some smoke and marzipan. Taste has coffee, salt liquirice, some smoke medium bitterness. Almost full bodied, not sticky, low carbonation. Balanced and very enjoyable beer with the great aroma.

500 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served cold in a tulip and shared. Deep brown-black, when tan head. Roasted malts, a bit of grape jelly, light meaty smoke, some chocolate, maybe a touch of peat smoke. Medium body, relaxed carbonation. Chocolate, coffee, a little more smoke than the nose, nicer flavour than aroma; off-dry with moderate+ bitterness and a long, roasted, lightly smoky finish.

On draft at Whole Foods, Chandler, AZ. Dark brown, near black, body with a quarter inch of beige head. Sweet aroma and flavor. Sweet chocolates with a touch of spice. Interesting mesh of char and roast. Smoke character is nearly absent, which is a drag. Average.
