4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 StoutHead (231) - DENMARK - MAR 20, 2013
On tap at Fermentoren. Pours black with a medium sized tan head. Has a sweet taste of dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee and fruits. Mouthfeel is vinous and full with a long bitter aftertaste of malt, chocolate and vanilla. The bourbon taste really stands out, but somehow it works very well anyway. Super good beer.
Edit: having mistakenly placed my original review under the wrong beer and having to move it, and having tasted the non-barrel aged version in the meantime, I’ve knocked a couple of points off this beer. The barrel aging gives it a taste I can only describe as ’tinny’, and I feel that the "normal" version is slightly more balanced than this. But like I said: it IS a good beer.

Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, wood, vanilla and bourbon. Flavor is very sweet and very bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with heavy alcohol. 091212

Bottle # 198 of 374 @ run to 10k session. Rating # 10.000! As I have finally learned to appreciate bourbon barrelled imperial stouts it had to be one of those, since I have done my share of downratings of those. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, bitter chocolate, fruits, vanilla, coffee and hops. Dry finish with some alcohol present.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 esp0r (1258) - NORWAY - OCT 13, 2012
Limited edition bottle numbered as #41 of total 371 shared at the daje & esp0r hits #1000 rates sessions.
Pours black with a tanned head. Smells of bourbon, vanilla, roasted malts and caramel. Taste is heavy sweet, quite boozy. The bourbon is a very dominating factor in the flavor. Moderate bitter, quite fuzzy mouthfeel. Compared to the non-barrelled version this is a step down. Unbalanced, too much bourbon. And the hops from the original is sadly gone (due to barrell of course)
