COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English: A very smooth version of Xbeeriment Black Force One with complex notes of maple syrup and oranges from the Bourbon blending in with the roastiness and hoppiness of the imperial stout. An extremely complex beer. Only 375 bottles made.

Sample as "Xbeeriment Black Force One XO" @ CBC’13.
Pours pitch black color with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, licorice, cognac and dark chocolate. Flavour of dark berries, coffee, cognac and licorice. Very smooth chocolaty palate, dry woody finish.

Definitely nothing to do with bourbon, a distinct XO dominant brew. can’t quite see the reasoning with the aliasing here. A call for anti-aliasing (pun intended).

Benzai (6436) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - MAY 10, 2013
Sampled at CBC 2013. Opaque, pitch black colored beer with a large, dense, excellent lacing, fully lasting off-white head. Aroma is moderately malty, roasted malts, chocolate, light to moderately hoppy. Taste malts, roasted malts, lightly earth, bourbon and moderate to heavy bitter. Full body, oily texture, (a bit too) lively carbonation and a bitter finish. Could be a bit better balanced though. It basically has all the ingredients to make a great beer, but somehow they "only" combine to a good beer.

Glouglouburp (5929) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 25, 2013
In short: A harsh woody roasty imperial stout. Just ok.
How: Bottle 500ml, #172 of 374. Consumed when over one year of age.
The look: A light gusher. Pours a black body topped by a large tan head that quickly dissipates to a persistent small layer of foam.
In long: Nose is very woody-oaky (although not particularly bourbon), chocolate cake and notes of menthol. Taste is chocolaty, a bit boozy (sensation of an alcoholised dessert), unexpected flavor of caramelized coated red apple, a lot of roast, notes of vanilla, strong minty notes, a sip of black coffee. A moderately sweet attack transitioning to a dry and very astringent finish with the wood sucking the mouth dry. Overall the beer was too harsh for me, the booze and the oak tannins and the roast all piled up and made for a palate destroyer. I really liked the regular Black Force One, this barrel aged version was a bit letdown, I was as disappointed as when you read a rating that goes on and on and on, and then keeps going on and on, and then goes on and on even more, and then no funny conclusion.
