COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Our basic idea with this beer originated while making Xbeeriment Barack. When we’d done that we thought "What if we took it further?" So we decided to go for it and create an Imperial Stout made with 5 different kinds of malt including substantial amounts of peat smoked malt, roasted barley and 3 different hop varieties. We then added a 4th variety for dry hopping. Finally it was bottled unfiltered, bottle conditioned and left to mature in the bottle for 2 months before release. Serve at 12-14 degrees Celcius (53-57 degrees Fahrenheit).

Could really smell and taste the smoke flavor, but not over powering. The finish to me had a jellied mint flavor (not sure where I was getting that from). Different than most of the smoked beers that I have had. Worth getting again.

500 ml bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours very dark brown/black with about an inch frothy tan head. The head sticks around a long time, and there’s also a good amount of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted and smoked malt, chocolate, coffee, and some dark fruit. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like roasted and smoked malt, coffee, bittersweet and milk chocolate, piney hops, dark fruit and a bit of licorice. Nice balance between the sweet and bitter flavors. I don’t think the smoke is strong in either the aroma or flavor. It is noticeable, but it’s closer to being subtle than it is strong (which is a disappointment since this is labeled as being a smoked imperial stout). Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s coating and has moderate carbonation. Even though this beer wasn’t as smoky as I was expecting it to be, it’s still a good overall brew and I liked it.

Bottle enjoyed at home
Pours dark brown, black in glass with a medium tanned head that stays. Smells of chocolate, caramel, hints of liquorice and smoke and of course roasted malts. Taste is full malted with a dry not so sweet follow up. Some acid notes long in the back. Also nice bitter chocolate dark as night. Hints of coffee and smoke too. But not as much smoke as expected from the label. Quite oily palate that leads to the highpoint of this beer. Wow how bitter it is. And the hops that is there. Tremendous. This sure is a fantastic finish

16.9 oz bottle. A stiff pour yields a thick cap of webby tan foam. Nose is prune, Whoppers, coffee bean and ash. Medium to full body, creamy with a soft buzz. Taste is licorice, dark chocolate, sweet peat, grapefruit pith and a touch of honey finishing with orange peel and smoke. Top notch brewing; dry hopping and smoke notes just perfect.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, smoke, and roasted coffee. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige head. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate and a touch of vanilla. The finish has light-moderate smoke, coffee, and some piney hops. Medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat oily mouthfeel.
