3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hellbilly (3249) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - AUG 6, 2012bottle from papago 9/3/11.
bright coppery color with a creamy and dense looking whitish head.
dank initial aroma...followed by pine, gf pithiness, oj, caramel, wet wort, cereal, florals, green onions, honey and earthy hops.
the flavor and palate have a ton of alcohol, spice and boozy drying... florals, spicy finish, mild tartness in the mid palate, pine, caramel, pithy and a nice bitterness. reminds me a lot of west coast ipa but bigger. gets sweeter as it warms but booze and hops keep it lighter.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 yngwie (10761) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 30, 2013
Bottle. It’s a lightly hazy orange-golden beer with a small, light beige head soon diminishing. The aroma is peachy and piney, with some maltyness. Dull for a DIPA I think. There’s not enough bitterness in the flavor, maybe not enough of anything actually. Piney and fruity, with malty sweetness. Full body, soft and low carbonation. Bitter finish though, with too little of everything else. Certainly not a beer I’ll repeat, even though it’s decent. It’s too dull I think. 130430

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 mikedR (363) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - APR 1, 2013
These European DIPAs are always interesting. This one pours with a nice copper color with minimal head and aroma. Taste is sweet -- peach maybe -- overlaying a pretty gold malt base. The hops seem to come in at the backend, imparting a lingering bitterness. Just goes to show that regionally there can be quite a variety in the same style -- I enjoyed this, but those expecting a hop bomb or a West Coast DIPA will be disappointed. Very drinkable, though, and hides its ABV exceedingly well.
