2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 madmitch76 (9867) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 5, 2012
4th January 2010 Very hazy dark red-amber beer. Malty nose. Zero carbonation. Slightly dry palate. Fairly rich malt with a little toffee. A little bit of fruit coming through towards the end and just a little aniseed alcohol in the aftertaste. Flat and disappointing.

50 cl bottle. Rated on 02.02.2010
Dark brown with some yeast particles. Aroma has vegetables and berries typical to Danish ales. Also some grapefruit juice. Richness with raisins typical to quadrupels is present. Flavour has alcohol, some peaches, fruit flesh, berries and caramel malt. All those will be run over by alcohol towards the finish. Drinkable.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Marsiblursi (2952) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - FEB 21, 2012
(Draught) Pours amber to brown. The aroma holds fruits, berries and caramel/toffee-like malt up front with undertones of earth, cherries and candi sugar. Light floral. The flavour is fruity and berry-like with a fat malty backdrop of caramel and toffee. The mouthfeel is fat and soft. Bit sugary and complex aftertaste. Medium to full bodied.

A slight honey taste at first, but as a little old flavor. Smells too old. Was drunk before BB date.

Bottled. Pours out in a cloudy reddish brown colour with a small bubbly off-white head. Rich, deep and well-rounded aroma of cherry-skins, toasted malts, milky chocolate, almonds, black currant and mild honey. Full-bodied with notes of honey, black currant, toasted malts, mild spices and brown sugar. Long rounded and warming aftertaste of milky chocolate, dried cherries and burnt sugar. Tasty!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ClubGonzo (2718) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 30, 2010
Pours a deep coppery body dressed in floaties and crowned with an off-white medium head. Smell is caramel, syrup and complex candy sugary notes. Taste has a sweetness profile strangely reminding me of my childhood’s "bruspulver" (soda pop fizzy powder), just without the whole chemical thing. Cherries, candy sugar and malt extract also appear throughout the palate. Regardless, this quad turns out to be not quite as complex and exiting as the Belgian "royal beers" it seeks to emulate. Ok, but not great.
