BlackIPA (746) - Rochester, New York, USA - JUN 15, 2013
Pours a thinish black with a small tan head. Aromas of toffee, some dark fruit, perhaps a whiff of water running over clean rocks. Taste is waterfalls, some unsweet cocoa and industrial metal. Finishes semisweet with a very small hop bite. Its ok.

Nothing on the nose at all - it's like it's sterile. Moderate to high carbonation. It sounded like I was pouring a Coke. Really thin with a light roasted malt taste and a bit of a tart finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I was pleasantly surprised by this beer because I was not expecting much from it. It had sat on the shelf at my store for what seemed like forever. I purchased a six-pack as my contribution to killing the product and freeing up space for new beers that had piqued my interest, and would hopefully sell better. The color is so wonderfully dark, but the mouthfeel is light and refreshing. A great summer brew for those of us who love dark, heavy styles. I had it with a light, "summer style" chile served over a brown rice blend. Super yum! I may now end up lobbying to keep in the store. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A ruddy dark brown that looks solid black in the glass. This light brown head, gone quickly. Aromas are chocolate, chicory, toast, alcohol. Mouth presents the chocolate again, but the supporting cast is black cherry, date. Bit of a tart finish. It’s actually a pretty pleasant, drinkable beer. Sweetness does start to build up a bit too much for my liking.

12 oz brown bottle. Deep brown pour, tan coloured head fades into a film on the surface with some ok lacing. Nose has some sweet dark malts, light roast. Taste is of bitter chocolate, mild raisin fruits, with dryish roasty elements, and an edge of metallic tanginess. Light and mild in the mouth. An ok schwarzbier, used to drink this a lot in my early beer drinking days.

355ml bottle pours black in color with a finger of light beige head that lingers for a bit and settles to leaves some spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is light roasted grains and dark fruits. Taste is malty and fruity sweetness with a light roasted grain and hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A decent black lager that is worthy of sampling.
