twist top, jet black w/ brown head. subdued caramel aroma w/ hint of coffee, it’s smooth and fairly drinkable. light bodied, rather thin, though expected. it has a hint of coffee and roasted barley. there is really not that much to say, similar to a german dunkel.

Poured a totally opaque black into my glass. Nice off-white colored head didn’t last and had no lacing. I could not detect any aroma or much flavor for that matter. There is something of a metallic taste though. Very watery body with some carbonation. Other than the appearance, I can’t see anything good about this beer.

Bottle. Light caramel malt aroma. Black opaque color with little head. Sweet sugar cane malt flavor - very pleasant. Medium body - not too heavy, not too light. Alcohol content low for a schwarzbier - should really be a dunkel. Still nice and enjoyable - really like the cane sugar flavor.

I really couldn’t pick up any aroma. Deep black. Small head. Flavor is like a cheap lager at first then some malty sweetness, almost raisiny, flavor comes in. I personally love schwarzbiers, but this one lacked the smooth all the way through malt profile of the German Schwarzbiers I love. Decent, but it tastes a little too much like it’s normal lager originators.

Poured black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate and molasses. Taste is slightly sweet, with tastes of cocoa and a touch of coffee. Very smooth and drinkable.

Poured like motor oil with a big airy, cascading tan head. Little to no aroma. Likewise, I didn’t discern really all that much of the big-bodied flavors I expected. This is smooth and only light sweet ... toffee, mild bitterness ... OK.

Very dark with a very unique sasparilla like taste. The taste signature is very individual. Very strong.

Pours with a three-finger brown head that leaves some lace. Solid black color. Light-medium bodied and light carbonation. Slightly malty nose. Starts sweet - hints of molasses and toffee finishes mellow - not dry. $10.49 for a 6-pak of 12oz. bottles from Tulley’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.
