UPDATED: MAY 9, 2009 This poured out of the bottle so dark that I had to hold it in front of a hallogen lamp to catch a bit of redness. The tan head lingered and coated the glass. There wasn’t much body to the beer, but, damn, it went down smooth! There was a good malty flavor with some sweetness and it tended to coat my mouth and throat. Xingu is best drunk cold, because the sweetness and syrupy texture can get a bit overbearing as it warms. I keep some in the fridge.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2009 Bottle. Got this in Louisville, KY while on vacation. Very dark, and almost black. Held up to the light there was a touch of red. Nice dark head. Good feel in the mouth. Slight malt taste with low carbonation. A very nice drink.

Damn. Very dark with some red if light passes through it, brownish head. Aroma of chocolate and malts. Taste is bitter with a nice citrus undertone and a biting finish. Very good stuff.

Black with cherry edges & low head, some carbonation. The aroma is dirty with some light ricey, fruit & subtle chocolate roast malt; coconut & peach too. The flavor is light & sweet, smooth very sake like with metallic roasted qualities too. Finishes balanced & tangy.

Dark brown with lighter edges and a creamy tannish head with spotty lacing. Aromas of chocolate and roast malts. Slightly sour and bitter. Similar malts in the flavor with some more bitterness and a slight nutty quality. Smooth and roasty.

Dark, nearly black in color. Sour corn and malt aroma. Slight fruity and stale cereal flavor a hint of licorice and an unusual medicinal flavor. A terrible schwarzbier.

I tried Xingu for the first time at a bar in La crosse Wi. It was a little expensive but had a surprisingly good taste and aroma. It was a little sweet for my taste but good none the less.

Pours an opaque black with a tan, somewhat lasting head. Highly carbonated. I can taste the anise in the creamy mouthfeel. Thin body but not bad.

I remember thise having more of an anise flavor, but it still shows hints. Dark and boasting a decent brown head. Light and smooth, hints of chocolate and anise in front of a nice sweet malt background.
