Light tan head and very dark body. Chocolate and malty nose. Malty, vegetal, and chocolate flavor. Medium body. A fair beer all-around. Holds some nostalgia with me since I first sampled it in a Brazilian restaurant in D.C. while watching Brazil compete for the 1998 World Cup.

Pitch black coloured body with a dense light brown head. Aroma of vegetables and some slight roasted quality. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong vegetable tastes and some nuttiness with a strong malt background. Aftertaste shows some of the malt with little else...very mild. Overall, a decent beer from Brazil, nice to try...but I probably wouldn't try this again. I had this beer from a bottle at a bar in the Market Square in Knxoville, Tennessee.

very smooth and silky, like sam smith's oatmeal sans taste. just kinda light on the flavor, of roasted malt, or some sort of 'interest' i was expecting from the supposed ancient and secret recipe. not bad, but not worth getting over something similar and better

Rotten vegetable aroma that is so common in this style. Mellow and almost-numbing palate, soft flavors of smoke, steak and milk.

Pours out black, just like the bottle indicated. Aroma was malty with hints of sourdough bread. Large tan head with noticeable lacing. Flavor was malt, almonds and hints of toffee. Somewhat thin on the palette with a medium dry finish. The bottle didn’t indicate what style of beer this was so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Overall I would classify this one as a porter. Sampled on 2/21/04 at Rodo Viva in Temecula, CA.

Visually appealing with dark, reddish brown body and frothy tan head. After that? Nothing. Aroma and flavor nondescript. Look at it but don't drink it.

Black beauty. Aroma was malty and bready. Flavor was malty, bready, slightly sweet and burnt. This was good stuff... will drink again.

Kind of confusing. You expect a stout flavor given the color, but that's not at all what this style is about. Frankly, I am still confused. It is more like a not-so-sweet, very dark brandywine. A little more hoppiness than a stout, but still pretty flat. Clearly some strange flavors that I did not have a much of a chance to really pin-point, but over all a decent beer.

Pours black with a nice tan head. The aroma is flat. Perhaps a bit of chocolate and dark fruits. Medium bodied mouthfeel. A bit bland but malty and mildly sweet. Slight hoppy finish. This was an interesting beer. I think mainly because of where it's from. Overall it wasn't that bad, although it wasn't very complex.
