A very dark beer with a light tan head which lasted the whole beer. A faint spice aroma. Flavor is well balanced. Just the right amount of roasted malt flavor with a slight sweet finish. This is one smooth beer. I like it.

Creamy, mild, and very good. Very dark brown color, almost black. Head was tiny, dissipated quickly, and it’s flat.

Bottle. Poured a very dark brown. Very small, tan head, but good retention. Aroma of malts and coffee. Low carbonation. Flavor was a little underwhelming (much less than I expect from a black beer), but pleasant. Coffee and malt flavors with a nice finish. Good, but not great.

pretty good, poured an opaque black body with a thin tan head which had great retention. aroma was malty with mainly a sweetness to it, but hints of roasted malts. Flavor was sweet with a uniquely bitter finish. it was a little light on the palate though.

Pleasantly surprised by this. Pours an extremely dark, almost opaque brownish-black with a decent light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, a whiff of candy-like sweetness. Flavor is rich and malty, sweet with a dark earthiness to it. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a bubbly very dark brown, almost black, with an average size foamy light-brown head. Very mild aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and licorice -- it smells nice but it’s way too mild. The flavour of sweet and roasted malt is also much too mild, there just isn’t much there. Medium bodied. This would be a great beer if they would just increase the aroma and flavour but as it is it’s too bland, making this just mediocre.

Pours out a dark brown cola looking color, with a very slight ring of off white head around the brim of the glass. Nose is light on chocolate, roasted malt, and very slight sweetness. The sweetness gets a big old boost come tasting time though, and the chocolate turns more into cocoa powder than a milk chocolate bar. Goes down nice though. Not bad.

Black, thick tan creamy head. Interesting nose on this with prominent notes of sweet coffee, cola nut, and molasses, with touches of dark bread scattered within. Flavor is similar with sweet coffee, cola, and more molasses. Light touches of chocolate play out upon warming, with a very light hop bitterness that cuts into the malt sweetness ever so slightly. Light to medium bodied, soft smooth carbonation, lightly sweetened finish. Not bad, not great...

750 ml bottle. Pours opaque black with a thick tan head. Not very aromatic. Hints of coffee and licorice in the first taste. A bit thin given the dark color and frankly a little disappointing.

Dark, a little roasty. A little thin but still enjoyable, esp. from Brazil....
