COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Xingu is a line of exotic beers dedicated to bring awareness to the Amazon Rainforest. Xingu Black Beer is very smooth and drinkable and is a two time winner of the Beverage Taste Institute of Chicago’s Gold Medal as the best dark lager in the world.

750 ml bottle. Pours opaque black with a thick tan head. Not very aromatic. Hints of coffee and licorice in the first taste. A bit thin given the dark color and frankly a little disappointing.

Bottle (12oz). Poured opaque brown-black with a reddish hue, a small foamy-fizzy light brown head. Aroma was dark roast malt, resiny sourish red wine, some licorice, chocolate and raisin notes. This one’s pretty flat and thin on the palate, very mild roast malt and some tart prune juice, no detectable alcohol or hops - interesting, but way too mild.

bottle picked up at Piccadilly’s in Champaign. very dark pour with a creamy tan head. mildly sweet with some anise/licorice notes. subdued flavors lead to a very easy drinking beer, but for a schwartzbier its just too mild.

Aroma is faint and resembles a dark lager but some small malt will come through. Nearly opaque, although its real just a dark brown. Thin coating og head created but diminished in a couple of minutes. The flavor is semi sweet and bitter with a much more noticeable presence of the malts again. Somewhat roasty and smooth, but i feel its unbalanced. I’ll admit, i did think this was suprisingly a decent beer considering the thought that it was imported from the southern Americas.

This was a very smooth, light tasting beer. To put the taste into perspective, I would say that if I was to be double fisting at a bar, and Xingu was in one hand, a "good" beer in the other, I would drink most of the Xingu, then down the other beer, and then savor the last few swigs of Xingu for the final taste in my mouth... that’s how good it is.

Nearly black with a mahogany hue and a small tan head. Aroma of molassas, leather, burnt grain, sour milk, coffee. Sweet and tart iin flavor and a smooth mouth feel with little bitterness. Not bad.

Nearly black in color with a thin white head. Aroma is obviously chocolate with a hint of plum. Taste is a little watery with hints of caramel and chocolate. A refreshing beer to eat with steak. Not too complex, but not poorly made either despite it’s molson/coors connection.
