Xingu is a near-classic example of the Schwarzbeir style. It is a dark lager, so it should be light in flavor profile and heavy in smoothness. This beer delivers (for its style). Pours dark with decent tan head. Color as dark as a Guinness. Drinks smooth and refreshing with enough flavor to invite the drinker back for another. Recommended.

Bottle. Medium tan head, with fairly quick dispersion that leaves a decent lacing. Black-ruby color. Sweet and malty aroma that has a winish quality. Flavor is definitely winish, and has chocolate, with a sweet and slightly sacharin aftertaste.

obisbeer (565) - Barcelona, SPAIN - AUG 30, 2004
Color: Deep black with a reddish tinge and a thick dark head that dissipates quickly. Some cherry but mainly flat in the aroma department. Light, some malt, and the cherry carries through though the finish is short with slight burnt toast. Flat, light body with not much aftertaste. Decent beer though lacking in interest. Wouldn’t be bad for a session.

Pours an opaque black with red touches. Nice brownish head. Aroma is of light malt. Some sweetness in the nose. Medium body, smooth. Not bad.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2004 Very dark lager.Appearance is the only good quality of this beer.Smells like a cheep lager, tastes like a cheep lager, pours and looks like a porter.Fizzy sort of taste (whats that all about?).Being from brazil,I hope this one was just sitting too long.Otherwise Xingu is just a bad beer! Wasted my money!

Cornfield (5506) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - AUG 10, 2004
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2009 This poured out of the bottle so dark that I had to hold it in front of a hallogen lamp to catch a bit of redness. The tan head lingered and coated the glass. There wasn’t much body to the beer, but, damn, it went down smooth! There was a good malty flavor with some sweetness and it tended to coat my mouth and throat. Xingu is best drunk cold, because the sweetness and syrupy texture can get a bit overbearing as it warms. I keep some in the fridge.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2009 Bottle. Got this in Louisville, KY while on vacation. Very dark, and almost black. Held up to the light there was a touch of red. Nice dark head. Good feel in the mouth. Slight malt taste with low carbonation. A very nice drink.

Damn. Very dark with some red if light passes through it, brownish head. Aroma of chocolate and malts. Taste is bitter with a nice citrus undertone and a biting finish. Very good stuff.

Black with cherry edges & low head, some carbonation. The aroma is dirty with some light ricey, fruit & subtle chocolate roast malt; coconut & peach too. The flavor is light & sweet, smooth very sake like with metallic roasted qualities too. Finishes balanced & tangy.
