Dark, nearly black in color. Sour corn and malt aroma. Slight fruity and stale cereal flavor a hint of licorice and an unusual medicinal flavor. A terrible schwarzbier.

I tried Xingu for the first time at a bar in La crosse Wi. It was a little expensive but had a surprisingly good taste and aroma. It was a little sweet for my taste but good none the less.

Pours an opaque black with a tan, somewhat lasting head. Highly carbonated. I can taste the anise in the creamy mouthfeel. Thin body but not bad.

I remember thise having more of an anise flavor, but it still shows hints. Dark and boasting a decent brown head. Light and smooth, hints of chocolate and anise in front of a nice sweet malt background.

Sampled at the Southside Beer Expo. Much more than a schwarzbier. Not hoppy or roasty from the malts, but rather "quiet," with a succinct fruity character. My sample had lower carbonation than other beers, which enhanced its mild flavor profile.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2005 Eric-bottle-pours fairly black with a nice fizzy tan head and good lacing. aroma is funky, but in a good way-roast, char and some german lager funk going on. this definately fits the characteristic of the style. flavors seem tame for such a dark beer-german malt funk, some roast, and some light cardboard, but not really bad. body verges on thin, but its not too bad. finish is light with some subtle grain notes (rye and anise)
Keith-Intersting brew here. A dark lager with a taste that has hints of some of its darker beer brothers. Sweat and creamy. Nice malt taste. FYI- named after a tributary of the Amazon river.

Decent light brown head. Light carbonation. Hearty roasted grains in the aroma with a bit of licorice. Color is a dark dark brown, almost black. Flavor is a little bit thinner than expected but quite good and smooth. Creamy mouthfeel with some subdued roasted flavors. Finish is silky smooth with a hint of bitterness. A very easy drinking beer and a decent schwarzbier.

This one really tricks you into expecting a heavy flavor, but it’s very light. While I prefer beers with more flavor, this one is great in terms of drinkability. Has a smooth taste throughout and quite different than any others.

Enjoyed a bottle of this at a Brazilian resturant in Richmond. Surprisingly light bodied for such a dark beer; the hint of orange or citrus was pleasant in the aftertaste. Not exceptional on my first taste, but I wouldn’t mind trying another.

Has that sour "Hey! I’m a lager!" aroma, but it is nicely buffered by molasses. Flavor is deep, rich malt and hoppy goodness. There is a slightly citrus finish. A bit too carbonated
