COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Fiiltered
A black lager which was launched after studies by American anthropologist Alan D Eames into Amazon beer. The beer is claimed to be based on recipes for ancient Amazon beer, though critics are sceptical as neither the ingredients nor the production method match Eames’ studies. Lagering and hops were unknown to the Amazon Indians.

No aroma to speak of. Taste is reminiscent of spoiled prune juice, but it does grow on you.

Sweet sassafras nose, some spicy hops. Black color with a subtle crimson hue, medium head. Licoricey sweet, some pepper, slight bitterness. Tight carbonation, silky to heavish body, sweet spicy finish. Interesting beer, not a clean finish, but rich and tasty.

Very dark with a tan head. Full bodied, with smokey coffee and chocolate flavours, creamy, not much hops. Good but a bit too candy-sweet for my liking, like a superior version of a bier brune.

A nice dark beer with a dark tan head. Aroma not as strong as the color - just slight hints of dark malts and coffee. The taste is light and refreshing with some caramel and roasted malt flavor - but not much. The finish is clean and there’s very little bitterness. A very drinkable dark beer that would surprise a lot of people.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small frothy light tan head that last awhile leaving sticky lacing. Not much on the nose but sweet malt. Medium mouthfeel a sweet chocolate and nuts with a light bitter finish. Easy to drink, a good schwarzbier.

Aroma of malt, coffee and molasses. Taste is medium bodied with malt, cream and more molasses. Refreshing for a dark beer.

This goes way back in my drinking days--many, many a xingu back when I lived in brattleboro but haven’t tasted it in probably 15 years. It holds up OK. Fairly light body, but a smooth maltiness, bit of acidity, with a dry slightly hopped finish. Nothing outrageous, but it’s OK.
