3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
355ml bottle from Prisma Kotka, interesting occurence since I hadn’t seen it anywhere else before even though keeping something of an eye out for it for at least the last six months and Kotka is usually the last place to find anything of interest. small fizzy mostly lasting light brown head, coffee colour, lacing, Roasty aroma of chocolate and molasses, some traces of resiny and spicy hops. Taste is initially moderately sweet and slightly bitter turning into a bittersweet and a bit sour finish with a moderately astringent feel. Soft carbonation, medium body, oily texture. A bit too smooth for my liking, but many could consider it a virtue. Definitely some character anyway and downright plenty of it for a beer from a warm country.

17/I/14 - 335ml bottle @ home - BB: 19/I/14 (phew, that was close!) (2014-56) Thanks to Tinus for sharing the bottle!
Clear purple brown beer, small beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: pretty aged, notes of port, sherry, chlorine, urinals, bit nasty yes indeed! MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: some honey, pretty oxidized, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, little sour. Aftertaste: bitter touch, toast, grains, some port and sherry notes.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours black with an off white head, which provides no lacing, and disappears quickly. aroma is earthy with some darker fruits, and slightly spicy. Tastes resemble the nose, a very easy drinking beer, nothing overpowering, with a smooth, light texture. leaves behind a moderately lasting bitterness. needs to be served fairly cold, as it seemed to lose a bit of its flavors as it warmed up but still quite good!

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark cola brown with a short tan head. I’m in a bar with smoke wafting in, so the nose is escaping me. A bit of a roasted aroma. The mouthfeel is characterized by a full body and a smooth texture. Some light scrubbiness. Good flavor. Sweet potato and brown sugar. I’m impressed with how this beer drinks.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
My first foray into Brazilian and South American beers, and I must say I was a bit disappointed. I had heard multiple endorsements of Xingu schwarzbier, and my sample of this brew didn’t quite measure up. OK appearance, almost black, but reminded me of Coca-Cola. Aroma was caramel malt but only with mild intensity. Taste was sweet caramel and toffee, a little fruitiness. I think the finish could be best described as liquorice. Not a bad combination of flavors but didn’t strike me as refreshing. A little sticky on the palate. Just OK overall.

12 oz bottle. Dried fruit aroma. Pours dark black. Taste is dried fruit, vanilla and roasted malt, with almost no bitterness. Low carbonation and a medium mouthfeel. Decent, but nothing special.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not much aroma. Sort of toffee-like. Flavor is nice - roasted malt with some sweetness in the finish. Silky mouthfeel. Would like a little more potent flavor and long-lasting finish, but still a nice beer in a style I really like.
