COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Fiiltered
A black lager which was launched after studies by American anthropologist Alan D Eames into Amazon beer. The beer is claimed to be based on recipes for ancient Amazon beer, though critics are sceptical as neither the ingredients nor the production method match Eames’ studies. Lagering and hops were unknown to the Amazon Indians.

Bottle. Pours a black body with a finger-width, brown, creamy head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of thick lacing. Aroma is mostly fruity malts with a light earthy roasty and just a bit of chocolate. Flavor is very sweet, fruity malts with a brown sugar sweetness. A touch of dry roasted bitterness and slightly sour fruit finishes this off. Light bodied with a short aftertaste. Overall, for a lager its relatively tasty. Maybe a little too sweet though without enough roasts or spices to go with the mainly fruity malts.

12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a dark brown color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is grainy with notes of coffee, caramel and nuts. Taste is caramel, sweet malts, light nutty notes. Thin-medium bodied.

Black with a small beige head. Slight, malty aroma. The taste is very sweet with hints of fruit, nut and coffee. Very slight dryness. The whole thing seems designed for the guy who doesn’t like his beers dark. Nothing scary here, old chap! But the result is passionless and flaccid.

Bottle. Deep reddish brown in color, with a small, thick chocolate head. The aroma is sugary sweet, with notes of sweet coffee, herbal notes, and dried fruit. Upon tasting, this beer has a rich, full mouthfeel, flavor notes of sweet, ripe dried fruit, sweet dark cocoa, and somewhat of a dry, toasted finish. Really good and worth a try.

Pours very dark little head no lacing. Tastes much lighter than you would expect. A very drinkable black beer

Deep clear amber brown, light sweet malty aroma. Thin bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Hints of anise in the flavor. A little waterier than I had expected but easy to drink.

From Tesco, this is a lovely dark tawny red, head is off white but dies very quickly to leave a thin patchy covering, so loses a mark for that! Good body witha nice toasted malt palate with hints of coffee and caramel, good finish. A good flavoursome beer, pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. This was 4.6% not 4.4%!

Bottle. Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is very malty with a hint of toffee and a hint of spice. Flavor is not as I expected out of a dark beer - rather mellow, yet very smooth and creamy. Not bad.
