Bottle. Pours black, opaque. Very little head dissipated almost immediately. Aroma is toasted malt, coffee, some grassy hops, licorice (very light.) Flavor is a pleasing combination of roasted coffee, light hop bite, and light bitterness. Pleasantly surprised with this one.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
It pours into the glass a very dark brown/black color and when held up to the light it shows very dark crimson highlights. On top sits a nice tan head of slow fading foam. A thin cap hangs on to the end. Lacing is mostly slick but there is some sticky lace just up at the top of the glass. Sweet roasted barley and bready notes fill the nose. Also there are hints of raw grain and even some very slight white grape and peach candy notes. Just as the aroma suggests there is a good sweet roasted malty character. I also picked up the fruity notes of white grape and sugar covered peach gummy candy. The body is quite easy drinking, about a light medium. Its texture is some with a light or mellow, yet still active carbonation.

My first South American brew. The body is totally opaque with a purplish cream head that fades quick. Aroma is very light and almost soapy. Taste is a rich, coffee, toffee blend that finishes relatively clean. Heavy flavor, yet smooth.

My introduction to black ales. Strong scent with great carbonation for a dark ale. Powerful malty taste without the bitter afterbite of a stout. I greatly enjoyed this beer.
