Bottled, 355ml from Tesco, Banbury. Black with rosey tan head. Chocolate roasty nose leading to quite a sweetish, chocolatey beer, heavy mouthfeel with notes of licorice and brown sugar. A good surprise to get a beer like this from brazil, through our local Tesco’s, more of the same please.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 downender (4183) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - APR 8, 2009
Bottle from Tesco. Very dark brown with a slight tan head. Sweet rum and raisin aroma with a touch of roasted malt. Flavour was also sweet, with a creamy mouth feel, more roastiness and some dark fruit. Ok, but I was tiring of it by the end of the bottle.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 snakeoilpete (324) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 29, 2009
Bottle. One of the first beers I was hooked on. Not so much my thing anymore, but it’s good for what it is. Pours dark brown with decent tan head. Smells and tastes like half an imperial stout. Strong molasses and licorice, with some nutty and slightly roasty cereal. Sweet and chocolaty with no bittering hop presence. Mouthfeel is nice, finish is sweet and slightly astringent.

12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. It’s probably 4½ years since I’ve last had one of these.
Appearance: Pours an appropriate black body with a small, frothed, khaki-colored head. Some bits and flecks of lacing on the way down.
Smell: Faint notes of roasted malts, stewed figs and plums, licorice, stale cola.
Taste: Lightly roasty malts with a meager pinch of caramel sweetness. Faint hint of licorice. Dark fruitiness. Subdued hop bitterness. Splash of store-brand cola. The faintly roasty, drying finish is a tad chalky.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Well, now I remember just why it’s been 4½ years since I’ve last had a Xingu. Everything comes up just a bit too light in terms of a Schwarzbier.

Bottle that I picked up at the large Tesco, Aylesbury, Bucks, 23-03-09 consumed 24-03-09 Pours very dark brown with a light beige head. Taste is sweet and with soft brown unrefined sugars very much to the fore. I also get some chocolate brownie’s with this beer, its a very easy supping beer and really not bad at all. Large bottle. Tasted this one awhile ago so do not remember too many details. In fact, it was not that memorable. Liked it OK but not enough to ever seek out more.
