COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Fiiltered
A black lager which was launched after studies by American anthropologist Alan D Eames into Amazon beer. The beer is claimed to be based on recipes for ancient Amazon beer, though critics are sceptical as neither the ingredients nor the production method match Eames’ studies. Lagering and hops were unknown to the Amazon Indians.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2008 #512 (Ernie Banks, Eddie Mathews) On draft. Overall, fairly quite nice, good for bar drinking. This one I remember better than the Stella Artois, so at least maybe we’ve established a hierarchy between those two beers.

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2008 Like a CocaCola without taste. The flavor got sucked into a nearby sinkhole in the Amazon. Flimsy head, nothing like it’s depicted here. I can’t find anything displeasing, yet nothing strikes me as enjoyable? Oddness indeed. It’s a nice mouthfeel, but on the thin side. I keep waiting for the presence of taste, but it eludes me. Above average carbonation but again, where and when did the caramel, anise, hop aroma vanish...Yet I wouldn’t turn it down if I were offered it again, it’s a decent drink and give it a 7 for the flavor of nothing. Perplexing.

Bottle. Average creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Dark mahogany color. Initial thought was of a Malt Beer with a bit more body. Notes of sweet chocolate, roasted malt, light liquorish and some underlying toffee and maybe even a hint of sour malt and sweet corn. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor. Sweet chocolate and liquorish like finish. Very sweet but then again I like sweet things….. ;-)

Pours black with a creamy tan head. Aromas of sweet malt and caramel with no hop bouquet. Tastes of espresso and molasses. Medium body with an abrupt and clean finish. Very much a "session" type beer.

12oz bottle from Jans Wine and Boos#2 (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark cola brown with one finger foamy tan head. Aroma is roasted malt with notes of dark ripe fruit, candy sugar, grain. Flavor is sweet roasted malt with hints of chocolate. Generally watery mouthfeel with a quick, uninteresting finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep deep brown with a coffee tan head that produces wonderful lacing. Nice aroma, full of roasted malt and dark fruits a bit. Wow! This beer is very smooth. It doesn’t have any of that astringency that I normally get from schwarzbiers. I get a sweet malt all over. Almost chocolatey at times. Very nice. Not what you expect going in.
