COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Fiiltered
A black lager which was launched after studies by American anthropologist Alan D Eames into Amazon beer. The beer is claimed to be based on recipes for ancient Amazon beer, though critics are sceptical as neither the ingredients nor the production method match Eames’ studies. Lagering and hops were unknown to the Amazon Indians.

This beer pours and opaque black. It has very little bitterness and is decently creamy and tart.

Deep brown with tan head and ruby notes at the bottom of the glass. There’s a sultana/prune sort of aroma of darker caramalts and sweetness, but it isn’t terribly strong (which isn’t a bad thing). It’s sweet at first and then really sweet. Chocolately caramel milkshake sort of flavours and a small hint toward bitterness. The finish isn’t enduring and veers toward the rather uncomplicated caramel that is this beer’s hallmark. Not great, but not bad.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2011 A nutty roasty aroma beer with a roasted sweet malt taste. The pour was a nice black typical schwarzbier pour, but that was unfortanetly, the best part of the beer. EH. Average. Gift from Doug Jameson. Got to re-rate. I enjoyed it better the second time around.

Bottle - Small thick head, very dark brown color, sweet malty taste, not as heavy as it looks, not bad but just not my type of beer

12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Brown sugar and dark fruits in the aroma. Flavor has brown sugar and again some dark fruits, biscuit, with a light lagery palate. Sweetish aftertaste. It’s just okay.

Bottled. Pours black with a mediumsized beige head.nose of caramel and notes of fruit and berries. Sweet flavour with roasted malts, caramel and fruity + licorice notes.Light to medium bodied, creamy texture and average carbonation. Ends up more dry with a tiny bitterness. I think this must be an OK Southamerican beer.

Served in a pint glass at Texas de Brazil steakhouse in Las Vegas, NV. Black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt, slight chocolate. Texture is very creamy and smooth. I really enjoyed this one.

I was very skeptical of a beer from Brazil but I was quite surprised. Poured dark brown with a faint tan head. Roasted malt aroma, black licorice, and some bread notes. Flavor drifts towards a slightly more flavorful lager. Certainly not as bad as I was expecting.
