Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Sugary buttery earthy aroma with licorice root notes. Sweetish earthy buttery taste with herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, slick mouthfeel leaves sticky sugars on lips. Dryish earthy herbal aftertaste with toffee and marzipan notes. Colour is fake, I guess. Drinkable, but not much more. (0.33l bottle, Salling, Århus.)

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2011 Blacker than a woman’s soul and flavorful as whitebread! The striking contrast only leaves you with apprehension and feelings of loss & sorrow. For happy-happy good times, stick with Blatz. You’ll be so happy they’ll have to give you strychnine to take you off your "high"! DON’T QUESTION IT!

Dark brown going towards black with huge beige head. Malty aroma of molases and lightly burned caramel. Taste is (much too) sweet with notes of toasted rye bread, licorice and cheap brown sugar. Light body, sticky slick texture, rather lively carbonation. Strange Schwartzbeer.

Bottle @ Home. Pours black with a creamy tan head, leaving sticking lacings on the glass. Aroma of hard roasted malt, coffee, pepper and sour cream. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, licorice. Thin body, soft carbonation. 020711

Jet black with a medium tan head that quickly dissipates to nothing and leaves practically no lacing at all. The aroma has a little roasted coffee and anise, faint but pleasant. The flavor is also clean like a lager but with a decent maltiness that exhibits more licorice than anything else. A very easy to drink dark lager but missing anything exceptional.

Bottled, same as pictured. Very dark pour, light head. Almost like a stout, but the taste was interesting it was a coco like taste but it was quite smooth. I would be interested in having this one again

Un nez bien malté, légèrement sur le raisin.
De légers arômes torréfiés, le malt est bien présent. On y retrouve aussi ce petit côté raisin, comme une touche d’acidité. L’amertume est discrète mais reste assez longtemps. Manque un peu de corps.

Black. nose is bland and roasty. Taste is some malt sweetness and roasted character. Tastes like a bland black lager. Not amazing.
