Served in a snifter. An aggressive pour yields a solid 1+ finger light tan creamy head that is falling steadily as I watch, leaving a substantive lacing on the sides of the glass. The color is black, with some clear brown on the edges when examined with a light. Aroma is mild and elusive, perhaps that of a light chocolate bar with a touch of vanilla. Flavor is mild and balanced, with a hint of sweetness, a hint of bitterness, and a light roast malts. Palate is as promised, creamy and pleasing, driven more by the soft carbonation and less by the body. At 4.4% this is a decent session beer.

Draught at Bier Markt. Dark mahogany pour, few tan bubbles for a head. Aroma, roasted malt, dark fruit, caramel. taste has some light espresso, fairly sweet, fruity. Little carbonation, slightly slick body. Interesting beer.

Bottle poured into a glass, zero head and zero carbonation. Weird, actually. No lacing of course. The smell is fruity, sweet, syrupy, and dark. The coloring is midnight brown, kind of like coffee, but no haziness to it. The taste, again - fruit, syrup. Sweetness. Interesting mouthfeel, goes down like water. A bit too sweet and fruity for my taste. It was okay, it was worth trying. I overpaid for it and wouldn’t buy it again though. It does match well with Brazilian food. I had it with black beans, sausage, steak, and slow cooked beef.

Bottle 35.5cl. (from Gourmondo.de). Color deep brown (but clear), good but loose foamy tan head, diminishes slowly, thin layer remains, good lacing; sweet malty aroma, roasted, cocoa, dark fruit, sugar syrup; taste medium to heavy sweet, tropical fruits, sugary; medium body, oily to watery texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste fruity sweetness and slightly bitter; difficult to categorize, kind of light fruit beer, though a bit thin on the whole nice enough for me.

Scura, quasi nera con riflessi rossi, schiuma marrone chiaro di media persistenza. Aroma di malto e caramello, che si conferma al palato con predominanza di dolce del malto. Corpo leggero, poco carbonata.

Appearance is black and very dark. Aroma is sweet fruit. Taste isn't as strong as the aroma but similar. Palate is low carbonation and thin. Overall interesting beer but not overly amazing.

This is a really tasty black beer. We paired it with black bean stew. Black beans, ribs, sausage, and some goat cheese. The flavor of the beer is really good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
