Pours black with ruby highlights and two fingers of pitted light tan head that diminishes to a thin skin, leaving patchy lace behind. The nose is a sweet and slightly sour blend of caramel and faint cocoa. Medium-bodied and slick with soft, effervescent carbonation and a clean finish. The flavor is of caramel, chocolaty bread dough and an unexpected fruity tartness at the finish. This is a fairly tasty and interesting interpretation of the style.

Jul 25, 2008 BOTM Club bottle. Dark brown pour with large fizzy light brown head. Aroma of nuts and malt. Thin taste for something so dark. Not to shabby, but not great either.

Jul 20, 2008 wow, this beer really kinda sucked .... really failed in every department with the expectation of some good lacing ... holly hunter is a whore ... smells of odd old oil and burnt rainforest ... has a dirty taste to it ... bootsey threw up like ... a crappy brew..

Jul 9, 2008 deep black pour with a caramel head. decent thickness with a fruity, chocolatey flavor with notes of circus peanuts. smooth on the finish and not too shabby.

does not count  Jul 7, 2008 This beer was a new one to me, just recently hearing about it from a friend. This self-declared black beer was indeed black, and surprisingly smooth. With a slight carmel and chocolate taste, along with a roasty finish, I found this one to be highly drinkable. Highly recommended.

Jul 4, 2008 12 oz bottle. Very dark brown almost black with small tan head. Some light caramel malt aromas. Medium body with light carbonation. Sweet carmelized malt flavor with some roastyness in the finish. Low hop flavor and bitterness with just a touch of roasty astringency in the finish. Quite tasty
