3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 9, 2006 Bottle (330ml). Overpriced. Okay, it’s a gimmick, but I rather like it. The beer is pretty standard, and the cognac (which I used to drink quite regularly) is nothing special, but it goes down easy and packs a disproportionate kick - I call it "roofies in a bottle" if getting your date plastered is a goal keep it in mind. The last swallow in a tulip glass, is interesting because the cognac settles to the bottom and that last swig is lovely: thick, strong, and sweet. Worth a try. Doesn’t age well.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Whoa, surprisingly easy to find in the database; I guess "xo" is not the most common letter combination. Bottle. Pours like an Orbitz, if you remember those. Nose is pretty sweet, with that orangy cognac smell. Flavour doesn’t have any alcohol or yeast character, just a simple soft cara-centred Belgian ale with cognac flavour. Sweet orangy finish. The worst beers I’ve ever had were French beer/tequila mashups so I was kicking myself for buying this when I realized it hadn’t just been aged in cognac barrels, but actually I’ve gotta say this was pretty good, not offensive whatsoever.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
This is a dark golden brown with almost no head. I’m thinking it’s more of a liquor than a beer. The aroma is very heavy on the Cognac. No issues here with what this beer is, a high alcohol brew. Aside from the cognac, the only other discernable aroma was burnt sugar. The flavour was similar to the aroma, heavy on cognac and sugar, light on malt and hops, and therefore sickeningly sweet

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Originally rated February 2005. First off, I am not a Cognac drinker. But is this shit good or what ? Poured an orange-golden colour with a descent head. Good retention and good lacing. Man, is the aroma of this brew heaven ? It was kinda floral mixed with an orange-something-else purfume. Also, hints of raspberries. Heavily carbonated with tiny little bubbles. Taste was a mix of cognac and raspberries. Not a good session beer, but a damn good after-supper one.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a small white head that settles down to some minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma is light caramel and fruits with the presence of the Cognac. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with some light fruits and Cognac with very little hop bitterness. Enjoyed this more than the Madison.
