Commercial Description:
X.O. BEER was born from the blend of two specialty products known from time immemorial, but which never dared to meet: beer and cognac. To elaborate, this new specialty beer which is at the same time surprising, creative and extremely qualitative, we wanted to select only the best in its composition. To achieve that, we have decided to associate the excellence in the know-how domains of distilling wines and brewing cereals. The pure malt beer has been specially brewed following traditional methods. Its authentic aromas come exclusively from hop and barley malt carefully selected. We have privileged for its aroma and bouquet, an X.O. Cognac fully matured in oak casks. X.O. BEER will surprise you with its new flavors, its taste never encountered before in a beer. Recently scaled down the alcohol from 8%.

Enjoyed the aroma, smells like cognac as advertised. Pours a nice ruby red, slightly cloudy, fairly large tan head. Flavour doesn’t deliver. Yeasty, flat and too heavy on the cognac. A bad idea that proved some things shouldn’t be mixed.

I found the Cognac to be the stronger of two tastes in this one. Poured an amber colour. Aroma I suppose is that of cognac which I am not very familiar with. I sensed a lot of sweet fruit, with some lightly roasted malts. Flavour about the same. This one was interesting but overall I can’t say I liked it. When it comes to beer, it’s great to experiment with bizarre styles, but this is too bizarre. I’ll give it a fair rating though.

29.07.2004, 0,33l bottle. The colour is golden amber brown. The smell is like the taste: Strange. The beer is dominated by a smell and taste of cognac. When I close my eyes it feels like plastic clay, but there is something in it that I like. definetly something to try again.

at tashi’s house, thanks to mes...thanks :-). looks good. nice amber colour, good white head. Congnac? More like rotten apples and mouldy cherries. Ultimately watery. unbalanced and generally AWFUL!

Tashi’s house, 28/05/08. Bottle courtesy of Mes, as if the Crocodile wasn’t bad enough. There’s a good reason that people don’t bring cognac and beer together. It’s a BAD IDEA! Doesn’t look bad, but smells of rotten apples and mouldy cherries. "Tastes of tinfoil" as Dave stated. The god-awful flavour clings and will not leave your mouth. Save yourself the trouble of hunting down a bottle by grinding up some Parma violets and sprinking them into the juice from a can of spoiled tinned fruit. It’ll taste the same. Yuck.

A Mes rate: bottle thanks to me, yes I am stupid.
Nice red amber colour with a good white head. Aroma of dead apples and cherries. Flavour is, as Dave pointed out, full of tin foil. This is utterly vile. I could be sick very quickly on this. Shockingly bad.

EPIC FAILAGE.
