Fat. Dimmigt guldfärgad med mediumstort vitt skum. Karamell, grape, melon och röda bär går igen i både smak och doft. Avslutas med en fräsch beska.

Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Golden brown with a firm white foam. Aromas are woody with hints of pine and base biscuit malts. Lemon with hints of grapefruit and some peppery spices. Flavours are caramel with bittersweet light grapefruit and lemon. Dry and woody with a prickly palate and a pithy bitterness. Decent.

Cask, handpump at The Rock of Gibralter, Enslow Bridge, Oxon 19.03.12 after Morris practice Amber in colour with a small white head. Very honey nose, in fact the honey is also present in the mouth, nice maltiness, late bitterness, this is good, in fact I rather like this and at 4.2% would be happy to have a couple of these. [Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe] Gold, moderate white head. Smooth vanilla shot through with a decent amount of floral hops and some lemon in the slightly dry finish. Reasonable enough beer, but doesn’t especially stand out in a market flooded with golden ales, and the vanilla means it’s not as refreshing as some of its competitors. c4
