Cask at the Bailiwick, Englefield Green, 21/09/15. Golden amber with a well appointed off white covering. Nose is pale malt, caramel, melon, orange. Taste comprises straw, melon, pale malt, bread dough, bitter orange. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow hop rinse. Decent golde.

Cask (Devonshire Arms, Cambridge)
Soft sweet caramelly malts, a little bit of fleshy fruits - peach. Soft palate. Pale orange, tiny head. Light malts, but some pungent hops too. A marmaladey aroma once there’s space in the glass. Nice characterful pale ale.

Cask handpull from the Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. Mid- to dark gold, fairly flat. Aroma of malt and peaches, with an odd buttery note which drags it down a bit. Taste is well-rounded for the most part - bittersweet and juicy - but there’s an acrid note in the finish which spoils it somewhat. Flawed but drinkable, and dare I say enjoyable. To an extent.

Pleasant enough golden ale with a little honey in the aroma. Hops are quite restrained and definitely not what the North Americans would call an IPA. Decent enough beer though.

Bottle from Eebria. Pours Golden, medium to low carbonation, single finger white head. Aroma is very skunky, loads of hops, slight toffee. Taste of initial maltiness, then a lot of hops, but for me the hops are far too balanced with the malts. Touches of Lemon and orange zest.

500ml bottle- takeout from PoW, Hinckley. Pours clean copper orange with a subsiding white top. Nose Southern Comfort, buttery satsuma, some bile and farmyard. Slightly acid and metallic buttery tones beneath muted orange and pine. Saline dabs; stone, digestives, nectarine. Not getting the 3Cs. A little bland and damaged.

Gravity cask @ The Salopian, Shrewsbury. Moderate bitterness, some mild lemon citrus and zest but nothing that dominates. Ok but could be better.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear amber pour with white head, nutty sweet aroma, bready malt taste a hint of sweet caramel mild bitterness not loads of hop action, just a hint of citrus.

50cl bottle from Alfred the Grape, Marlow. An attractive bright amber colour with a loose white head; fresh grapefruity aroma; grapefruity taste with a full grainy body with a touch of sweetness; then a leafy, fresh, bitterness, with a touch of spice lingering in the long finish. A really good, refreshing, summer beer.
