Cask at the Sir John. Aroma of bread with some fruit and grassy notes. Pours amber with thin top that laces strongly. Tastes biscuit malt with grapefruit rind. The fruit lingers on the palate. Not a lt of hoppy pay-off for an abv of 5.5%. I’m starting to prefer the pales with richer fruit aroma and tastes. So this is so-so.

Aroma: floral hops, bread, grain malts, light fruitiness. Appearance: clear, dark brown, small, creamy, off-white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: bitters continue, very malty, grain, bread, grassy and floral hops. Overall: decent Amber Ale, nothing too special though. Pint at Bath Pavilion Beer and Cider Festival, Bath.

Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe, 30/12/15. Rich amber with a decent beige cap. Nose is caramel, candied fruit peel, orange, straw, light bread. Taste comprises blood orange, mineral notes, caramel malt, light biscuit, toasted brown sugar. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with earthy hop bitterness. Decent hoppy amber ... good session jus.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 4/9/2014. Deep amber in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. Sweetish, berry fruits and caramel, some orange character and leafy hops. Good.

Cask at the Earl of Essex - London. Pours clear, red-gold with a slight, creamy topping. The nose has some old berries and brown bread. Light-medium sweet flavor with some soggy grains and leaves, citrus peel, bread, vague pine. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation; the condition could be better. There’s a modest mineral edge in the finish, along with more ripe berries and grainy brown bread. Fair.
