3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned at Moreton in Marsh Beer Fest ’12. Tawny red with white head. Something a little different here, certainly pretty sweet and fruity, plummy, damsons followed by a sharpish twang, like a slightly corked red wine, this adds to the beer rather than detracts. Decent.

Cask at the Three Cups, Bedford. Ruby with small off-white head. Caramel, berries, a bit of earth and fallen leaves in the nose. Taste starts as a typical malt bomb, but has a decent hoppy bitter tang in the finish. Concentrated bitter aftertaste. Not bad.

Bottled. A clear, dark red-brown colour with a small light brown head that soon disappeared completely. Lots of malt on the nose and a touch of licorice. Flavours are clean and pleasant thought don’t really stand out; a breadiness is the most noticeable aspect. The finish is dry but not bitter. Pretty good.
