3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned at Moreton in Marsh Beer Fest ’12. Tawny red with white head. Something a little different here, certainly pretty sweet and fruity, plummy, damsons followed by a sharpish twang, like a slightly corked red wine, this adds to the beer rather than detracts. Decent.

Cask at the Three Cups, Bedford. Ruby with small off-white head. Caramel, berries, a bit of earth and fallen leaves in the nose. Taste starts as a typical malt bomb, but has a decent hoppy bitter tang in the finish. Concentrated bitter aftertaste. Not bad.

Pours ruby red in colour, single finger off white head, medium carbonation. Aroma of malts, toffee, caramel, but very hoppy. Lovely initial wheaty taste, then many malts, biscuit, caramel, toffee, breadiness, then hops, citrus, lemon, orange. Very nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. A clear, dark red-brown colour with a small light brown head that soon disappeared completely. Lots of malt on the nose and a touch of licorice. Flavours are clean and pleasant thought don’t really stand out; a breadiness is the most noticeable aspect. The finish is dry but not bitter. Pretty good.
