Cask; Regular. Previously appeared with the words "Malty Roast" or "Malty Chocolate" on the pump clip.
A smooth rich dark beer brewed with a careful blend of four malts along with a cocktail of hops to give a complex taste. Deep malty base with dark roasty chocolate flavours, very balanced beer.

On cask at The Cambridge Blue, 16/02/13, during their winter beer fest. Dark, transparent chestnut. Light malty aroma. Lightly roasty malt, slightly tangy, light sweet, little hops. Slightly roasty, short aftertaste. OK drinking, but bit disappointing; not that roasty.

Cask at The Anchor, Birmingham. Poured a nice dark brown colour with a reddish hue and a frothy tan head. The aroma is rich fruity and surprisingly alcoholic. The flavour is medium bitter and follows the aroma with some nice smooth liquorice bitterness on the palate. A lovely heart warming beer. Ideal for consumption in front of a lovely open fire in the wintertime.

Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Dark brown with a firm cream head. Aromas are coffee and dark chocolate with toffee and raisins. Smoky and woody with burnt toast. Flavours are burnt toast with dark chocolate and grittty coffee. Bitter and dry with base toffee malt. Peppery on the palate with a somewhat rough finish. Decent.

Cask at Rocklands Club,Redditch,Worcestershire. Deep red brown pour with small tan head.Chocolate and fruity malt nose.Coffee in the taste with roast malt and some hoppiness leading to a little chocolate and then more hoppiness.Easy to drink,pleasant beer.

Nice roast flavours and a head which lasts longer than most ’real’ porters/old ales I have tried. Tastes of coffee and toast with a good, firm palate. Just enough sweetness to balance the hops. Although only brewing since 2011, I have been impressed with the beers I have tasted from this company. Long may they continue! N.B. I don’t see this as a brown ale (normally a weak bottled beer) and since when has Long Crendon been in Aylesbury?

Rich aroma, a bit roasty. Nice reddy brown, small head. A touch of kidney in places. Some sweet roasty malts in the body. Lots of resiny bitter hops kick in for the late finish. Early finish was a good dark roast. Nice one. Look forward to others.

Handpull at The Blackfriar. Deep clear ruby black with a small but lasting frothy biege head. Fruity - plum, grape, blackberry - and mild weak coffee roast, some alcohol. Taste follows but much, much sourer - like a light fruity semi-sweet trad porter with extra ropey sourness. Light, somewhat acidic, fairly flat, with a dry tart fruit and light coffee finish. Interesting stuff.

Cast at the Wellington, Birmingham: Very dark brown coloured brew with an good taste of roasted malts, chocolate and caramel and good dry long bitter finish.
