Nine Malts (including Belgian Aromatic, and Smoked), Nine hops (Apollo, Bravo, Columbus, Delta, EK Goldings, First Gold, Galena, Hellertauer, Junga) and two strains of yeast - this is a very special beer made for the drinker who wants something different. This is NOT a stout, it’s something else entirely. Big malt aroma on a bitter, balanced hop finish.

Bottle from the brewer’s own stall at the Thame Food Festival. Brown with a thick beige head. Light chocolate raisins balanced against lots of wood. Some underlying toffee makes it mellow, whilst at the same time tasty. Another great beer fron XT.

berkshirejohn (5288) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2015
Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. Pitch black with a ring of beige head, and a bright cherry red gleam when held to the light (on a sunny afternoon in the pub’s garden); aroma of richly roasted malts and vinous fruit; velvety smooth in the mouth, with deeply roasted malts giving a toasty taste with just a trace of chocolate; then a sustained bitterness, and a very dry ending. Very good indeed.

Bottle shared at the Cad’s 10th Anniversary Tasting - CBC Clerkenwell, London. This one I brought; I have no idea where I got it (maybe a webshop). Pours clear, reddish brown with a frothy, tan foam head. Toasty bread in the nose with accents of ripening berries. Medium sweet flavor with suggestions of cocoa, toasted bread, earth, leather. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Finishes moderately sweet with notes of dry chocolate, earth, burnt wood and subtle dried fruits. Nice one.

ManVsBeer (6244) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 9, 2015
Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Very dark red with a creamy off-white head. It’s smooth tasting, but not velvet-like as the name might suggest with dark malts evident but not as strong tasting as its content suggests.
