Sampled at gabf. Ooks like a stout but doesn’t smell like one. More tea and citrus. Lactic flavor with that fruit. Tea under. Drier than most milk stouts. Some cocoa. Light bitterness. Quite fruity.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at GABF 10/04/2014, thanks to my BIL for assistance with note-taking. Dark brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily. Partial ring of lacing. Aroma of malt, chocolate and spice. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, chocolate and chai spice. The finish is sweet with a chai tea aftertaste. Above average overall.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2014 Rerate: On tap at the brewery. One of the best offerings. I felt it was more in the 3.4-3.5 range this time around. Original: On tap at Barrels & Bottles. Black appearance with a small, dissipating head. Aroma is mostly tea, chocolate malts and light spices. Similar flavor, malty, rich and tasty with a lingering finish. Nice, creamy, milky mouth feel over a medium body and soft carbonation. Great flavor and feel, a nice offering. Original rating: 738514 3.7

My new favorite. This is a very complex stout. While it goes well with main fair the flavors really develop with deserts. I had it with a bananas and yogurt Indian dish at the Yak and Yetti and it was amazing. Again, this is a very complex and subtle stout, you must pay attention to the nuances and taste development with various foods.

Pretty cool one here. Chai is very noticeable in both aromas and flavors. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, definitely notice the lactose in the mouthfeel which is med-heavy.

Pint at the brewpub. I was expecting a very aggressive beer, but this is a medium-bodied, balanced sipper. The aroma has chai spice, without the ginger burn, more cinnamon. The lactose makes things sweet, but not over the top. Very slick palate. This sweet stout pairs well with the spicy, bold flavors of the food. It was enjoyable for the pint, but I would begin to lose my enthusiasm if I tried to drink much more than that.
