3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (1568) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 30, 2011
650ml bottle poured a golden-orange color with a big white head that settled to some spotted lacing. Aroma is big on citrus with a trace of lightly toasted malts. Taste is light malty sweetness and a big citrus hop bitterness, predominantly grapefruit. Medium body and nice carbonation leave a nice mouthfeel. This is a nicely balanced IPA worthy of a tasting experience.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 curly (2201) - Seattle (Newcastle), Washington, USA - JUL 20, 2011
Light hazed amber, beige head. Aroma of fruit, pine, lemon. Taste has more malt than the Vern and less hop punch, which I fully expected from the labels considering this one had a ship on it, making me assume it would be more of an English style. My assumptions were correct. Not to say this is a bad beer, it just falls flat after having the Vern IPA.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - APR 1, 2011
Bottle: Pours a light golden color with a thin head. The nose is lightly malty with some pale toasty notes and a light hoppy flavor. Some pine and citrus with some light florals. Clean finish, light body. Not much out of the ordinary and it’s a fresh example.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 5000 (3998) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 15, 2011
Bottle:   Heavy amber, a little dirty and cloudy, thin off-white head, sparce lacing.   This looks vaguely familiar.   Whoa, so I just had the Amber before this.   All I get is a little bit bigger aroma and flavor profile as their Amber.   This is not an IPA by any Northwest standards.   Hop aspect is very minor, and rather dank/aged might I add.   I will say this is sweeter than their Amber.   Has biscuity aspect to it that doesn’t belong.   Maybe they are going for an English style?   Seems overboard with its maltiness, and certainly lacks any floral/resiny hop aspect.   Its a shame that coming from the heart of hopland that this IPA isn’t any better than it is.   Really thought this would be a nice example, but overall is too biscuity, too sweet, and too light on the hops.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Aubrey (3125) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - NOV 8, 2010
Bottle from Oak Harbor (Whidbey Beer Works). Nice texture; not overly carbonated like many IPAs. Very fruity beer. Apple, dried apricot and pear. Balancing bitterness. Malts have a nice bready-toasty quality. Dryish finish. Hops are very floral, pleasant. Decent IPA.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Zeswaft (1139) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 21, 2010
Below average IPA. Has that really caramel, plastic malt flavor that british ipa’s have. More malty than I like for my IPA’s, and don’t get much hops in the aroma at all. Copper color
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 drjay44 (1613) - Salida, Colorado, USA - JUN 25, 2010
22 oz. bottle, shared at brew club, thanks to Don. Pours a thin white head, over a clear golden (SRM 6) body......nose is light pine, grapefruit....taste is honey/floral to start then a medium hop bitter finish, mouth feel is medium, as is carbonation. A fairly typical IPA, which is to say a nice drinkable beer. Tasting of 4/30/10. BJCP 7/3/15/5/7
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bhensonb (7131) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 21, 2010
Bottle from Whidbey Beer Works. Pours amber with a foamy off-white head. Aroma is mostly floral, detectable caramel, and to me a whiff of celery. That’s happening a lot lately. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is heavily floral, with some fresh fruit and a whole lot of bitter. It’s that smooth floral/fruity bitter - not the harsh grapefruit or pine style. Almost lush. Finishes nicely bitter with the malt shining through. Nice beer. Very.
