Coffee, cloves and roasted malts too. The flavor is really nice, with licorice, cloves, lots of roasted malts and some alcohol. Quite a lot alcohol actually. Full body, nice carbonation, quite warming. Lasting roasted and warming finish with licorice and cloves. A really nice imperial stout, tasteful and pleasant, although too warming. 110416

Pitch black color; small head. Nice aroma, well blended: vanilla, roasted malt, tobacco, light vanilla, roasted nuts, burnt wood. Good body strength; the blend of flavors (chocolate, caramel, roasted malts) is very good, with some liquorice and tar traces; there is a moderate residual sweetness; the bitterness is strong. The final is just a bit weaker than expected, and overall it starts getting a bit astringent. Very good.

Black color; small creamy head. Very nice aroma of whisky, roasted malt and vanilla oak, balanced. Dark chocolate flavor; the strong oak is pleasant, the burnt malt is less; the alcohol can be perceived through a warming feeling, but it’s acceptable. Strong bitterness. A bit chaotic, but good.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a tan head. Aroma is vanilla, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, dried fruit. Flavour is vanilla, coffee, chocolate, bourbon, roasted malt, licorice, dried fruits, alcohol. full body. Very nice beer.

Sampled at Hopapalooza II. Pours solid black with a decent tan head. Aroma features roasted malt, bourbon, cocoa, some vanilla. Taste is fairly sweet and bitter, similar notes to the aroma. Finish is slightly boozy but overall it’s a solid beer.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, cofffee, tobacco, wood - oak - bourbon, tobac - soy sauce notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, vanilla, bourbon. Body is medium full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20110416]

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of malt, roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon and coconut. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a smooth bourbon coconut finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft.

Bottle @ Ulfborg Easter Tasting, 2011. Pours black with a creamy beige head and lacings. Oak, bourbon, chocolate a bit of tar and vanilla. Smooth and slick. Sticky. Delicious!

Handbottle @ fonefan tasting. Small head with short duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are smoke, wood, vanilla and roast malt. As always bourbon barrels only makes things worse.

Growler kindly shared by fiulijn. Dark brown, a hint of smoke, roasted grain, not as oaky as I thought, but there is some pleasant vanilla. Rather sweet, good balance, pleasant stuff.
