Skyview (2901), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jun 15, 2008 On draught at the brewpub in downtown Vancouver (Yaletown sector), Canada. Pours a clear straw blonde brew, lots of carbonation bubbles, with a fast dissolving white head that quickly dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma is challenging to detect as bleach and chlorine is present in the glass. When ever this happens ask your server to bring a small glass with soda water. Add a little salt in the glass and rinse it out. Use the new glass as your tasting glass. Anyway... Aroma of light pear and apple fruit, some white bread dough, a touch of grassy hops and some mild yeast. Taste is light bodied, plenty of carbonation with flavors of light fruit, white bread malt and some grassy/vegetable hops. Finish is semi-dry with a mild toasted white bread malt aftertaste. Oakes (6966), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 17, 2005 Slightly hazy amber colour with big frothy head. Saazy, bready aroma is light but shows potential. Fresh, creamy character blends a light saaz character with doughy malts. There’s a bit of diacetyl, too. I don’t care if it’s considered "appropriate in small amounts". There’s more of it here than in Pilsner Urquell, and I hate diacetyl. Once it gets on your palate, it really ruins the good work the malt and hops are trying to do. Malakin (465), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jun 13, 2004 Golden in color, medium saaz aroma, crisp light hoppy saaz flavour. Was a bit on the thin side. JoeMcPhee (3807), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 16, 2004 Slight chill-hazed appearance with a creamy white head and rich golden colour. Malty caramel smell, yeast and some faint citrus notes. Decent maltiness with good body. Flavour is grassy and herbal with very good bitterness on the finish.
