UPDATED: JUN 6, 2007 Yanjing Beer, green bottle. Sampled at a Vietnamese restaurant in Victoria that had about 12 different beer options, including Vancouver Island brews. Almost luminous yellow colour. Fresh, slight pee-hops in the aroma. Light body. Slighty acidity. Pretty quick, grainy, cheap.

Green bottle. Light gold in colour with high carbonation. Dull light pale malt aroma with a faint suggestion of German noble hops. Somewhat bland rice flavor, not much of a hop contribution in the mouth. Low bitterness, and a bit of a surprising full mouthfeel, inspite of all of the carbonation. Clean finishing. Dull, but drinkable in a pinch.

The Official Beer of Grand High Manifestations. Mildly sweet rice and herbal hops in the aroma. Clear golden body is topped by a low but lasting white head that leaves some very nice lacing. Mild grain flavour with light herbal hops, sweet rice and a very light bitterness. Aftertaste is long and sweet. Light body with fair carbonation. Bottle (BB020706) sampled with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.

Salty, rice and thinned out malt nose. Sweet flavour profile speaks miles about the industrial nature, offering no nuances other than bland vegetal aspects.

I had mine in a 330 ml green bottle with a green label, simply called "Yanjing Beer". ABV was 4.5%. Lots of carbo and quite thin with little malt profile. SLight corn in the flavour and thin on the finish.

Yanjing Beer, 4.5%, the beer of high official manifestations...Now if that’s not funny...Evident rice in the nose protrudes from the aqueous yellow complexion...Smooth, fizzy carbonation enlivens this black hole of a flavor spectrum...No hops at all...Chicken fried rice?
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 beervana (781) - Libertyville, Illinois, USA - APR 15, 2006
(03.30.06) 630 ml green bottle purchased at Mei Fu Tian Restaurant, Beijing, China. Poured clear yellow with small white head. Average carbonation. Faint skunk and grass in the nose. Light bodied Chinese pale lager that starts with light malt sweetness with malt/corn flavor. Finishes dry with light malt fade. Compared to Yanjing 10oP and Yanjing 12oP Extra, all three tasted pretty much the same but the Yanjing 11 oP was relatively drier and crisp tasting and it went very well with Chinese food. This beer was the best of all three Yanjing beers.

On Draft In Beijing
I’m assuming this is what I drank. They just call it "Local Beer", but the beer list calls it Yanjing and this looks like the can in my minibar. Not good. Not good at all.

Looks and smells like american macro brewery beer. Flavor is suprisingly bitter and fruity. I was expecting a skunky flavor, but that is not the case. This is a very taste, simple.
