1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Big bottles. Pale yellow-gold. Fizzy. Best drunk out of the bottle so you do not have to look at it or smell it much. Drank fresh from the big bottles, probably one of the better swills in Beijing and has a great price point--3 RMB (USD 50 cents) for a 650 ml bottle. So thatís pretty much 25 cents a beer. Could be one of the worldís cheapest. You know, I drank a lot of it and itís not that bad when itís fresh and cold, which it often is both from the small Beijing hutong vendors. Doesnít have the types of off-flavors that make some Chinese swills unbearable. My go-to for "yi ping pijao, bing-de."

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Gold bodied with a fizzy white head. Skunky and grassy hops with cereal and sweet malt in the nose. Taste is sweet malt, corny notes, light cereal grains, and faint grassy hops. Body is light-medium and has a fizzy, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more sweet malt, corn syrup, cereal grains and grassy hops.

1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle - Pours a clear old gold with little white head. Aroma is skunked, corn, skunked, grain, and skunked. Taste is like biteing a metal spoon full of water. Palate is watery and disappears on the finish. Overall, this is not the worst drainpour I have had, but it is by no means a good beer.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle claims to be #1 selling beer in China. Itís just a tasteless, watery, cheap lager. Not terribly offensive. but not good either.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Tastes like emptiness. Is that a buddhist concept? If so, the beer could be seriously anti-establishment in China. Unfortunately to me, it tastes like crap. Maybe I lack culture... Got in a white can in 7-11 in Taiwan

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
The main Yanjing you buy in the 600ml bottle for 3 kuai everywhere in Beijing is a pale, sour beer. It is light bodied, with a little bit of grainy taste. It drinks quickly and you can drink a fair bit of it relatively painlessly.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
TPSA. Pours a clear gold with a noticeable head. It smells like -- well -- lager. it tastes like lager -- a little adjunct, a little metal, a little rice, a little toast. Finishes average. Itís a Local Ubiquitous Lager In A Green Bottle; thatís really all I can say about it.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at home. Pours clear golden yellow, 1.5-finger white head, seems to have very strong carbonation. Head doesnít stick around, reducing to a skim in ~10 seconds nor is there any lacing to speak of. Nose is intensely skunky, but then itís a "Beer in a Green Glass Bottle" which seems to be code for "Skunky Pale Lager" though itís either been ages since I last had one, or this one isnít really that bad, because Iím kinda digging the aroma. The skunk and light metal notes are balanced by a touch of sweetness, and some light grassiness. Not mindblowing, but appetizing enough, I suppose. Flavours are crisp and lightly earthy, with some nettly skunk and a touch of metal. This isnít one-note apples either, there is a touch of grass and some mouthfeel and body here too. All things considered Iíd call myself pleasantly surprised. Itís not life-changing by any means, but you could do far worse in a Chinese Pale Lager.
