Hefeweizen is a traditional Bavarian wheat beer brewed using a classic German recipe. The malt bill is 60% wheat resulting in a light approachable beer with a hazy opalescent appearance and a soft gentle texture. A special Bavarian yeast strain was selected for this beer which imparts a beautifully fruity flavor and aroma with hints of tropical fruit, banana, light citrus and undertones of clove like spice. The hopping rate is very low allowing the wheat and malt character to shine through. A perfect example of a 100% natural and traditional wheat ale. A true session beer. Paired with Anything Seafood, very refreshing on hot day.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2015 Part of a 6-pack sampler at The Yard House. Pours very cloudy, the way it should. I could smell the yeast, and I’m glad it was a small amount, because it was RICH! But, that’s what I expect from a heffe.

Draft at Angel’s Trumpet. Pours a cloudy yellow-gold with a white head. Notes of wheat, sweet malts, lemon, banana, bubblegum, and faint peppery spice. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet mouthfeel that finishes dry. Really well-done hefe.

Draft - Banana and boozey yeast. Hazy yellow with a rich white head. Banana, orange, clove and that sweet yeast finish. Nice Hef but nothing special

Draft at Biergarden - Encinitas, CA. Pours cloudy, yellow-gold with a moderate, frothy white head. A real entry-level hefe, this. Restrained character, plenty of dried wheat, a bit of yeast and pale bread. Light bodied with average carbonation. Pretty crisp to finish. Light and easy.

It pours a hazy yellow with a pillowy white head. Light banana and clove on a fairly muted nose. The flavor is rather weak with the banana barely making it’s way and the clove not to be found. Light wheat notes with a bit too much sweetness. Not bad per se, but closer to a wheat ale than a hefe for me.

Pour on tap at Yardhouse, hazy yellowish pour with white head, aroma brought notes of clove, biscuit, nice banana, bubblegum notes, refreshing spice, yeasty pepper, hints of slight white fruit as well. Taste is a mix of sweet peach, pear, and white grape into some yeast, bread, and dough, slight clove, bubblegum, finishing fairly sweet.

Obvious bandanna notes thin lasting head good carbonation. Sweet tropical more than bandanna which is nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
