COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most approachable of our ales, Brawler is malt forward and delicately hopped for a knockout flavor. Its smooth character, hints of caramel and toast, and remarkable drinkability define this ruby colored brew as a true session ale. Perfect for when you want to go a few rounds.

Bottle into an ale glass. Pour is a ruby with a fine head. Aroma is on the low side, but malt. Taste is a bitter malt. Finish is a bitter.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy amber with small off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is toasted malt and grain. Medium mouth, light caramel, cocoa, lingering dry finish, good.

On draft at Giant Center in Hershey, PA. Pours a deep amber with a white head. Caramel and brown sugar on the nose. Medium-light mouthfeel goes down easy. Flavors of toffee, caramel and grain with a slightly bitter finish. Great session beer.

DATE TASTED: January 1, 2016... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky Tavern pint... OCCASION: Happy New Year bowl watching after visiting Mom and Dad... APPEARANCE: dark, cola-brown with effervescence (if sought out through the shady body... head is off-white, spongy, and riddled with bubbly crags and smears... the head retains well... AROMA: malt-forward indeed, with caramel, toffee, and toasty breads... some yeasty funkiness gives an earthy, grainy suggestion... hops are light, weak, and only slightly citric... PALATE: lightly textured, easily drinkable... thin and flat, with a weak finish...again, accomplishes its goal... TASTE: malty, nutty and toasted enough to provide some nuance... the predominant flavor, however, is an underdeveloped caramel that is candied (or canned)... the hops offer some lemon grass and orange, but faintly and without allure... overall, a flat flavor... OVERALL: a Yards fan coming in, this "approachable" beer doesn’t hit the mark, and I find the pugilism is more directed towards the drinker rather than the demon on the label--unless that demon be a more confidently malted beer...

Definitely a beer to sip and not to drink in gulps. I love Yards. It has a very dry profile and you can taste how hoppy it is right away, but it isn’t off-putting.

The aroma is caramel, brown sugar. The appearance is deep red, white head. The flavor is caramel, toasted malt, sweet. The finish is spicy, sweet. Thin in body. Nice for the style.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the "Blue & Grey" Pub in Gettysburg, PA. This beer is a slightly murky orangish color with a small white head. The aroma is big on malt with some caramel and spices following. The flavor is full of malt with some spices and yeasty bread. This beer is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A surprisingly real treat, very enjoyable.
