Commercial Description:
Originally brewed to withstand the epic voyages from the shores of England around the African Cape of Good Hope to the Indian Subcontient, the India Pale Ale has always been a beer for the adventurous soul. Thoroughly hopped with Amarillos in both the whirlpool and the fermenter, it was then transferred to our makeshift shipping cask, where it was dry-hopped again with Nugget and Columbus. Set adrift in our brewery without cooling, it was able to age as though it had been put to sea for six months. The result is an authentic double dry hopped and uniquely aged India Pale Ale reminiscent of something you’d find solace in on a balmy, Indian evening far away from home. Beware of tigers

Pours copper with a tan head. Smells of resiny hins, some floral hints, sweet malt. Tastes perfumy, earthy, peppery, and bitter with a sweet hint on the finish.

Dark chestnut colored with minimal head. Aroma is not IIPA, but relatively hoppy. Taste is stale, heavy caramelized English malt, bordering on Scottish. A bit cloying.

On cask at Local 44 in West Philly. Smell was very floral and sweet. Pour was a medium yellow-gold and absolutely clear. Taste was sweet and mildly hoppy, but most of all, floral.... All of Yards’ beers are very floral which is something I have gotten to appreciate from them. This DIPA was something of a misnomer. It is very sweet and floral for a DIPA and not all that hoppy. Hmmm, it’s not too close to style. However, once I got past that, it was very enjoyable. The flavors were very multi-dimentional. It was almost like a hoppy barleywine the way the sweetness blended with the hops. I really enjoyed it. Not much of a DIPA if you like hop bombs, but a heck of a beer!

Draft: pours a light copper color with a frothy white head, strong hoppy aroma with notes of citrus, taste is hoppy, bitter with a pretty strong malt backbone, pretty similar to the regular IPA but I like that one better.

Cask at Memphis Taproom. Pours a lightly hazy orange amber with a creamy off white head. Aroma of floral and citrusy hops, pine, caramel, nuts and just overall a nice hop and malt mix. Flavor I was getting the same notes as the aroma. A little bit on the sweet side, but still very nicely done and much better than the regular Yards IPA

I see this beer finally got the nod to be added to the db. I tasted a pint of this at the CAH in Limerick a week back. It poured an amber color with a generous off-white head that left nice lacing around the glass. The nose was featured a nice amount of floral hops, with a touch of coriander, caramel, orange peel, bread and pine. The body was a tasty, but wasn’t anything extraordinary. The flavors were the usual citrusy and spicy flavor with a good malt profile. But it didn’t really have anything to seperate it from other ordinary IPAs.

[Cask@ Northside] Poured a hazy amber color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, spices, citrus fruits, caramel malts, pine, and light toast. Taste of citrus fruits, pine, light tobacco, grapefruit, tropical fruits, and a lightly bitter finish.
