COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Cape of Good Hope, which changes year to year, pays homage to the original style and adventurous spirit of the first British IPAs. This past year’s release, a west coast style double IPA, is brewed with 100% pilsner malt, imparting a subtle maltiness and beautiful golden color. Loaded with hops, there’s Columbus in the kettle and Centennial in the whirlpool. Then it’s dry hopped with El Dorado, Calypso, and Galaxy, resulting in a dry, crisp ale with unmistakable flavors and aromas of tropical fruits. Doesn’t match the hop listings I’ve seen elsewhere, right?

Herbal aromas, citrusy, orangey, piney. Clear orange-amber with a fairly lasting white head. Mostly dry, pretty bitter, a little sweet, boozy. Medium-full bodied, kind of savory, pretty strong.

Draft @ Tap House PHL. West coast hoppy aroma. Dark golden color, with white head and good lacing. Very drinkable, malt is balanced with bitterness. West coast hops, a little piney and also citrus. Med bodied. Overall, very nice! Did not taste like a 9% beer.

Pour medium clear orange with a one finger white head with pretty nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus, pine, tropical fruits, bready pils malts, and sweet malts. Taste is similar to the aroma with the addition of some herbal hops, and some grassy hops. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, semi-moderately bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty nice DIPA that is pretty well balanced yet still has a nice west coast hoppy edge to it.
