COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Cape of Good Hope, which changes year to year, pays homage to the original style and adventurous spirit of the first British IPAs. This past year’s release, a west coast style double IPA, is brewed with 100% pilsner malt, imparting a subtle maltiness and beautiful golden color. Loaded with hops, there’s Columbus in the kettle and Centennial in the whirlpool. Then it’s dry hopped with El Dorado, Calypso, and Galaxy, resulting in a dry, crisp ale with unmistakable flavors and aromas of tropical fruits. Doesn’t match the hop listings I’ve seen elsewhere, right?

A pretty solid DIPA with a nice hoppy profile. Nothing special but nothing wrong with it either. Enjoyable.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2012
Location: Draft at Cork City, 10/14/12

Aroma: This one has some spice, citrus, and a little pine on the nose
Appearance: Clear orange-caramel colored pour, with a white head, and light, sticky lace
Flavor: The tastes falls off a touch from the nose, and is light-medium sweet and lightly bitter
Palate: This one has a decent mouthfeel, a soft, almost flat, carbonation, and a slightly dry finish
Overall Impression: Solid, not great, kinda sweet IPA. The nose is pretty decent, but it falls off a touch flavor-wise. Its fine, but I didn’t love it.

FROTHINGSLOSH (5095) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 8, 2012
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-bronze color with a medium sized foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was moderately strong pine, light grapefruit, lemon and caramel. The flavor was bitter, sour and tangy and a touch off with notes of pine, resin, caramel and a hint of wood. Medium length bitter and sour pine and resin finish. Medium body. Ok.

12oz bottle: Pours a clear deep bronze with a stringy-lacing white head. Has a lightly sweet toasty malty nose with lots of grapefruity hops and floral notes. Body starts with good fullness and sweet light caramel malt with lots of fresh resiny southern hemisphere hops and bitter balance before a drier clean bittersweet finish. Well-balanced, flavorful and true to style.

Bottle. Pours a dark copper with minimal head. Aroma is of bitter hops. Taste is quite good. Initially bitter but fades into a nice IPA. Good flavor, nice finish. Well balanced with enough hops.

Deep amber, frothy head, medium bodied IPA. At first I thought this was a straightforward English style IPA, however, as the beer warmed the citrus flavors from the hops really came through.

Beautiful reddish amber one finger head. Very fruity citrusy aroma. Tastes a little soapy. Could use a bit more bitterness ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Clearish amber with a white head. Nose is orange, pineapple and toffee; light vanilla. Oily medium body with a lively tingle. Starts with some toffee, sour orange and lemon peel then chalky with quinine. Dry finish with coarse hops and wood. I liked the idea behind this brew and wonder if they could age it in a salt spray environment to improve on the authentic taste.
