COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Cape of Good Hope, which changes year to year, pays homage to the original style and adventurous spirit of the first British IPAs. This past year’s release, a west coast style double IPA, is brewed with 100% pilsner malt, imparting a subtle maltiness and beautiful golden color. Loaded with hops, there’s Columbus in the kettle and Centennial in the whirlpool. Then it’s dry hopped with El Dorado, Calypso, and Galaxy, resulting in a dry, crisp ale with unmistakable flavors and aromas of tropical fruits. Doesn’t match the hop listings I’ve seen elsewhere, right?

8/30/13 $3.29 @ CBO 2nd beer after goose island Oktoberfest Poured a copper orange minimum head. Smell was nice hoppy, citrusy, pine. On the sweet side. Not a big hop bomb nor the alcohol of a double ipa. Still a pretty good ipa ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour medium clear orange with a one finger white head with pretty nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus, pine, tropical fruits, bready pils malts, and sweet malts. Taste is similar to the aroma with the addition of some herbal hops, and some grassy hops. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, semi-moderately bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty nice DIPA that is pretty well balanced yet still has a nice west coast hoppy edge to it.

Golden with white head. Aroma is boozy lemon citrus. Not as Malty as expected, certainly not watery but a lighter malt character than typical of the style. Citrus hop finish.

Bottle. Pours golden orange with creamy white head. Aroma is toasted and biscuit malts, grapefruit and citrus esters, faint floral notes, and faint grassiness. Flavor is mostly dry malt base with strong hop presence and medium bitterness along with very faint caramel and citrus sweetness. Medium body and carbonation.
