4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 frankenkitty (1958) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - JUL 9, 2011Pours a deep mahogany body beneath a slow-settling, quiche-like, tan head. Pleasant aroma of Nestle Quik, Ovaltine, prunes, Marschiano cherry and a wee splash of rum. Substantial body, thick and luscious, thinning out slightly as the palate adjusts. Solid flavor focuses on roasted malts and chocolate syrup, with a dark-fruit pucker and a Rauchbier smokiness late. Its 7% ABV remains fairly well concealed. This is a damn fine Porter and I’m surprised it’s not showing better numbers. ~~~~~~~~ Variety 24 pk./12 oz. btls., random bottleshop, Paoli, PA
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ryanscourt (270) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 13, 2013
Roasted malt aroma with some caramel sweetness. Dark brown, little head retention. Not bad, I tend to like a little more roasted flavors that sweet. Sweet finish with out much hops to balance. Average, didn’t really all come together for me and to much crystal malt dominance.

12oz bottle in an English pint. Pours brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of dark malts and chocolate plus some light hops. Flavor the same, with nothing really wrong with it but nothing standing out. Average texture. Not bad but not the best.

On tap at kildare’s in state college. This was totally delicious. Sweet satisfying full bodied with the molasses adding to the fun. Really enjoyed this.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured dark brown with a reddish tone to it and a big tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts and some spices. Taste is very smooth, malty perhaps too sweet; some light smokiness to it, bits of hops. Very nice very enjoyable. Another very good one from Yards.

Poured an almost opaque mahogany color with a frothy tan head. Aroma is caramel, cereal, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is caramel, molasses, licorice, coffee, and a quick, dry finish. Easy to drink and I mainly like it more because of its historical link.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 amild (4) - - FEB 22, 2013 does not count
A very good beer, but a better marketing scheme. It is a good beer but it is not amazing. It has a decent color and aroma. It tastes a little too roasted for me but it continues to get better as you continue on with the drink.

Shaker pint draft at the Jet Rock in the Philadelphia airport. The pour is a hazy darker brown with a 1/2 inch tan head. The head retention was great, leading to nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is deep roast, dark chocolate notes, and a faint brewed coffee smell. The taste is semi sweet caramel malt right away, followed quickly by the roast character. The dark chocolate of the nose gets a bit sweeter, and appears in the back of the taste, where it is joined by decent shot of bitterness. The palate is medium bodied, nice creamy mouth feel, bitterness gives finish a nice dry character. Nice one.

Pours a medium brown with a thick tan head. Aroma has some bitter chocolate...caramel and nutty hints. Flavor follows suit...more roasty...a touch of molasses...decent bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with a lightly burnt finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JDBaker11058 (922) - Maryland, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Appearance: dark brown with ruby highlights, a short, creamy tan head and persistent lacing. Aroma: Not super-strong--roasty chocolate and coffee, with prominent molasses and just a hint of smoke. Taste: chocolate covered coffee beans, ginger snaps, a bit of vanilla and raisin. Finish: clean, smooth, and with a slightly lingering roasty note. Notes: Excellent porter, with a smooth and easy-drinking palate and a lot of rustic molasses flavors and aromas. If this is truly George Washington’s beer recipe, then the man could make a great beer.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Dacrza (335) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JAN 21, 2013
Date: 17 January 2013...Glassware: Yuengling pint...Occasion: The Blind Side on NetFlix--probably the last football fan to see this film (call it a Ravens aversion)...Appearance: dark burgundy body and a thick brown head; fits the bill for a porter, and an old-school one at that...Aroma: fragrant, lactic scent with a hint of peat that is indicative of a deeper flavor; rum and spices (nutmeg?) too...Taste: malty, pleasant, smooth and lightly smoked--easily a win when considering the weighty 7% abv this beer’s pushing...Palate: thick, creamy, full-bodied porter--much creamier than expected...Overall: Nice to know that goodbeer doesn’t change much in terms of its recipes; this is my favorite of the the Ales of the Revolution sampler--and that is a Hancock-sized compliment! This takes its place among the Yuengling, Samuel Smith and Victory’s offerings...
