3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle gushed pretty bad upon opening. Pours a murky dark brown, probably due to the carbonation kicking up the yeast. Head is light tan and large with clumpy lacing. Aroma has some soft, subtle caramel maltiness with bready yeast and a touch of tartness. Has some light milk chocolatey flavor with a touch of toasty malt and aciditiy toward the finish. Could be a little thicker and lose any hint of acidity, but still has some decent flavor and goes down smooth. I sure wish it didnít foam all over the place though.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle into English pint glass, deep black (somewhat reddish) with light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, burnt marshmallow and minimal dark coffee. Taste adds some notes of char, molasses, milk chocolate with some earthy hop bitterness. Light body, low-moderate carbonation, creamy, ashy with roasty finish. Decent porter, leaning towards the burnt ashy notes.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Overall a very average beer. The body is a little to simplistic and the lacing is poor. Flavor is hoppy with a nice malty finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Joe Canals West Deptford.
Appearance: Opaque chestnut body with a tall tan head that lasts for a while.
Aroma: Sweet milk chocolate with cocoa, mildly earthy with a burnt marshmallow presence. Semi-sweet leaning.
Taste: Sweet honey undertones matched by sweet chocolate and balanced by burnt malts that overlie the sweetness. The finish adds brown sugar and comes off sweet with lingering a moment with burnt sugar.
Palate: Full bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: This is a great historic porter that is very flavorful and enjoyable. Well done Yards!

10/4/13 after work shifty. I enjoyed the smoky almost burnt taste. It took a few sips to get used to and after that was fairly enjoyable.
