3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 7, 2013 Bottle pours a nice bronze color with foamy white head. Nice lacing. Banana, cloves, pepper, bread, some alcohol. Moderately bitter and sweet. Thick bodied with light crispness. I expect that this will age well.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Transfer from BA review on 6-18-13-
Poured from growler into a chalice
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy amber-orange color. Upon pouring there is a small white colored head that fades rather fast leaving a film on the top of the brew with only light lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The brew was quite sweet smelling with a big aroma of apple and other light fruits of grape and a little bit of peach. Mixed with these smells are some light caramel aromas as well some honey. All these aromas give it a very sweet smell overall with a touch of light amounts of yeast and a grassy smell detected within.
Taste- The taste begins with a sweet fruit flavor of apple, grape and citrus upfront mixed with some breadiness and biscuit flavors. As the flavor advances some yeast comes to the tongue. With it so to comes a little bit of spice of coriander and clove. Toward the end the grape and apple get stronger in flavor and are joined by a little bit of a boozy taste. These are not the only flavors to come at the end of the taste with a grassy flavor developing more toward the middle and growing decently strong toward the end leaving a nice Belgian tasting and lightly boozy fruity flavor to be left on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that was rather average to just above average. Both were nice for the style and matched the sweet, boozy and in the end more grassy flavors of the brew.
Overall – A very tasty Grand Cru that blended rather nicely the sweet fruit and sugar tastes with Belgian yeast and spice as well as a good touch of grassiness. One to try out if you get a chance.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a nice hazy golden color, foamy off white head. The aroma is nice with hints fruit and grain. To the palate, you pick up more of the tart fruit with a malt backbone. Finishes nicely with more tartness.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a hazy apricot color with a huge creamy-soapy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was chalky, tart and bready with notes of orange and pear. The flavor was dryish, tart and chalky with orange, pear, bread and must. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Interesting.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark gold body under a one finger fizzy off-white head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is heavy on the sweetness with a lot of Belgian yeast derived fruitiness and a moderate alcohol note. The flavor is pretty sweet as well, but it’s not horrible. Some light fruitiness and light-caramel notes, minimal yeastiness. Sort of a nondescript beer, noting really stands out as unique, it’s just sweet and alcoholic. Medium bodied with just a slight clinginess and a fizzy pinpoint carbonation. Meh, not a beer I’d purchase a second time around.

This is a lot closer to a Belgian tripel, but still a superlative beer. Buttery sweet and smooth, hazy golden with initial high head. Slick mouthfeel, interesting finish.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy gold with off-white head. Nose was fruity, hopcitrus, with funky yeasty and floral spicy notes. Tastes hopcitric, very spicy and floral, wth hopcitrus, and a cloying finish.
