COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Only the strong survive.

IPAs were originally brewed to survive the epic sea voyages from England to India. Ours is no different. Hailing from a firm malt background and loaded through and through with hops, this beer will surely survive the journey from your fridge to your couch.

Jsawyer (297) - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 3, 2009
Bottle. Poured translucent copper-amber with a foamy/creamy off-white head that laced significantly. Redolent of pine, grapefruit, some cereal, sugary malt, leafy hops, and somewhat bubblegumy. Flavor was acidogenic pine, sweet almost orangey cereal flavor, and caramel malt. Palate was creamy but ended in a bittersweet phenolic finish.

Bottle: pours a light copper color with a long lasting frothy white head, great lacing on this beer, strong hoppy aroma with notes of citrus, taste is hoppy, bitter with a pretty strong malt backbone, nice bite in the finish. Very good IPA.

Heathen (1241) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - JAN 14, 2009
THOUGHT: I’m really far behind. Had a ton of beer in the last couple months, but haven’t entered any comments since October. I had this beer before, but somehow drank the whole six-pack without rating it. It was much more sour then. This was much more sour than I remember it being. I wonder if this is due to the new brewery location or conditions at the store. I didn’t like it at all the first time, but now I’d say it’s excellent. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy medium to dark coppery orange with a huge, foamy, off-white head that slowly diminished and left excellent lacing. There were also tiny particles of average to thick density in the body. The aroma was light caramel malt, moderate to heavy grapefruit hops and some sour fruit. The initial flavor was a little sweet and bitter, while the finish was very bitter and sour. There was sour fruit, grapefruit hops and a little caramel. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy with fizzy carbonation and a heavily astringent finish.

glennmastrange (1547) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - NOV 29, 2008
Bottle. Light notes of straw and soap for the malt and yeast, moderate lime and flowers for the hops, and notes of pepper, medicine and wood in the background. Head is huge, frothy, off-white with excellent lacing and is fully lasting. Color is murky orange/tan and had a few small particles mixed in. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic then the long finish is moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery but a bit slick and has a fizzy carbonation. It finishes lightly dry and astringent. A very unique IPA. It’s appearance is it’s best attribute, though the flavor is mostly pleasant.

lebshiff21 (172) - Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 30, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 8, 2008 Pretty malty and heavy tasting right away. The hops come through a little late for my liking, but a very enjoyable, solid IPA.

beerbill (2848) - Laurel, New York, USA - AUG 16, 2008
12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy amber gold with a large off-white head that lasted through the first third of the glass and left no lace. Very mild aroma of malt and some light floral and pine hops. The flavor is malt up front with some mild pine hops at the finish. While I liked the flavor, I think the hops are very timid for an America IPA. The alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied.

Fruitfly (59) - , Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 5, 2008
Bottle. A nice orange/copper color. Aroma is predominantly pinely and sharp citric hops with a caramely malt follow-up. No head and medium body. Bitter with lightly astringent finish. Nothing I’d race to try again.

This IPA had the hops to prove its worth. It was not overpowering but had a nice flavor with 8% alcohol to it.
