SirSlarty (68), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 3, 2008 Smell like over ripe sour fruit when you first pour. Thin head. A bit too malty for my liking. Kinda watery.
Heathen (455), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jun 19, 2008 THOUGHTS: Finally had it & it was better than I would have imagined. I thought it would be like Guinness but it was more like a baltic porter.
TECHNICAL: On tap at Grey Lodge. Poured dark brown with a small head. The aroma was nice but weak. Caramel malt and prunes. The initial flavor was sweet, while the finish was sour. There was sour fruit, prunes, coffee and a little chocolate. The medium to full body was syrupy with light fizziness and an astringent finish. jayg (995), Florida, USA May 6, 2008 Courtesy SoLan. Almost black pour, sparse thin light white head. Light roast, some chocolate, a little briny in the background. Not much going on for the taste except a hint of light sweet roast. A little bland. TheCheeseMan (500), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Apr 20, 2008 Pours a brown color, only the slightest hint of black. The aroma is virtually non-existient. Slight hint of chocolate milk, no roast detectable at all. Flavor is equally as subdued, bordering on benign. Disappointing. mingo1968 (12), phila, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 14, 2008 chocolate, coffee, roasty, smoke, black, tan foam, full body, thick feel, soft carbonation, long finish, i had this on tap it had a smooth smoky taste held a steady tan head. enjoyable. CharlesDarwin (1323), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 11, 2008 12oz Bottle - at the High Street Pub - Bellefonte, PA. There’s oysters in this beer? That’s so depressing. Flat-line aroma. Pours mahogany with ruby corner. Not much head. Flavor is real bland. Lightly salty, glassy and with too much mineral. Empty. A bit of misplaced sourness. Not much roast character. Mostly a weak English yeast profile and some light alcohol. Dry and I can appreciate that, but this is so boring, bland an just unexciting.
