MullMan (1080), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Oct 23, 2005 on tap (keg) served up for FREE to racers at the Wissahickon Cyclo-Cross race in Ludwig’s Corner PA!! Yards is punk rock! I had this instead of doing a "cool down" after I finished racing. dark golden ochre color, clear. thin foamy off-white quick head. aroma is floral earthy hops. flavor is honeyish nutty malt but stronger earthy hops. a little bitter greens flavor. thanks Yards! agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy gold with virtually no head at all. Weak citrus and floral aroma. Solid grapefruity flavor dominates early but a bit thin and lacking body. Aftertaste is amazingly bitter for a beer that seemed so watery. I’d drink it again though. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Aug 13, 2005 12 oz bottle-pours a creamy white head. Color is yellow/gold. Aroma is hops with a hint of grain. Taste is tangy, grapefruit, mild carbonation. Nice, refreshing. CamdenD (606), Madrid, Spain Aug 4, 2005 Better than the Saison I tried, but still rather boring. Decent hopping and balance made this ale very drinkable, but at 4.3% it should be, right? DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Jul 12, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with hopdog, thanks Steve!) Out of the bottle, this beer is off-white in color and very fluffy and bubbly. Exactly! A glass filled with head. After several minutes, I now have enough liquid to see that it’s dark straw in color, slightly hazy, with an army of carbonation bubbles rushing into battle. The beer has a sweet, fruity, hoppy nose, some orange citrus, but aromas of must and rotting vegetables detract, and there’s no discernable maltiness. The flavor is lightly sweet, mildly hoppy, bitter and citrusy, but somewhat sour, and like the nose, without much discernable maltiness. Fairly light bodied, fairly clean, obviously extremely carbonated on the palate, being very expansive on the first several sips. Even after the carbonation bubbles chill out, head retention is pretty nice, and there’s a fair amount of patchy foam stuck to the glass, though it’s too thick to be called lace. Probably just a routine pale ale, but the slight problems knock this down a notch. haddon90 (1035), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Jun 28, 2005 On draft at a bar in downtown Philadelphia. Decent amber color with an OK white head. Moderate hops in the aroma. Taste was a little off from a Pale Ale. Could have been a bad keg. But overall, not very impressed. rajendra82 (698), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Jun 27, 2005 Received from BA pezoids as part of BIF 20, this 12 oz. brown bottle lacked any freshness dating. The body looked pale yellow and slightly hazy, and the head was thin, but lasting a good bit as a result of good carbonation. The aroma was floral, citric, and much stronger than anticipated. The taste was hoppy, and grapefruit rind like, but lacked much malt sweetness. The aftertaste was dry with a touch of hay. The beer felt much bitterer than it was, due to the lack of a substantial malt presence. The aftertaste contained a lingering sharp bitterness. If this is how hoppy their APA is, I’d love to see what they have done to the IPA. Felt a lot more West Coast influenced than most others from Pennsylvania. Bigbutch10 (6), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jun 1, 2005 I think this is a great beer. It has a great aroma and smooth taste and a near perfect feel of grianiness.
