bmanLS (114), Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 28, 2005 Wow, I don’t know if I got a bad bottle or what but this pale ale taste like sour grapes or rotten fruit. Actually, it’s nasty, bitter and has an awful finish of metal or something. I am giving it a three for flavor just because it has a unique nasty ass taste. PWalk (337), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 28, 2005 Big on carbonation this beer yields a head like Bonds does a bat. Hoppy like a bunny I really like the new recipe over the old. The switch was warranted and I think the new style will help Yards reap the rewards it’s due. Easy drinking ale. spikee (96), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Feb 24, 2005 Faint citrusy-orange aroma. Pours a decent gold with zero lacing and a light head that dissipates quickly. Flavor is hoppy and citrusy to match the nose. Palate is slightly watery and diminishes almost immediately shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Feb 16, 2005 The aroma is well balanced . Nice hop character in the flavor. I thought this was quite nice and extreamely drinkable. euserphriendly (163), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 9, 2005 Bottle. I tried to pour this one as slow as possible and still had to wait for the head to reced after pouring 1/3 of the beer. The aroma was a strong citrus hops smell. Flavor was almost smokey as it tends to be with a large amount of american hops. It finished quite nicely with not an unpleasant aftertaste. With less carbonation it could be a great APA. thehinge (244), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jan 23, 2005 This had more head to it than any beer I’ve ever drank from a bottle. Yard’s needs to ease up on the carbonation.
That being said...let’s get to the nuts. The aroma was very poor, kinda like a rotting lemon. Flavor was lacking, also...it was very sour.
This is unfortunate....I got a gift sampler pack with two or three Yard’s products. Could hardly choke back any of them. I won’t be buying their beers....and would
steer others away, too. I must sadly say that if you want better taste....buy a macro like Bud or Coors. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Jan 1, 2005 (Bottle) Pours a clear golden body with a rocky eggshell head. Mild citrus aroma. Bland flavor of sweet malts. Somewhat bitter. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Jan 1, 2005 On tap at Firewaters in A.C. Clear, pale
gold color with a small white head. Sour
aroma and flavor that was hard to get past. Mild malt flavor with some decent hop bittering. This is the third beer I’ve tried from Yards and all had similar sour
aromas and flavors.
